This is a good bookend to the Skouras Grande Cuvee that I posted on recently. Agiorgitiko is often soft and simple. These two had more. -

This Agiorgitiko from Skouras can hold longer thanks to its structure. Still asserting itself, with some tannic pop and good acidity to boot, it is vibrant. But in the mid-palate, it's all finesse, ending with typical red fruits. Although maturing, they aren't giving up the ghost, tasty on the juicy finish.The nose is a bit older, but it and the wine overall are far better the next day. This Tselepos-Driopi had classic red fruit flavor from Agiorgitiko early on, and power, but time has pulled everything together perfectly. The flavors are more mature, a touch earthier, and the wine is well integrated. It's a beauty, in fact, still firm on the finish, with a backbone. Nice performance, nearing age 15.

Deep, powerful and still laced with red fruits, this is lively, if relatively mature in fruit profile. The tannic pop is a bit surprising, but this is doing well. I loved this the first time I saw it. It is doing beautifully, developing gracefully and slowly. There's a hint of tartness on opening that cuts the fruity demeanor. It has good concentration, precision, elegance and focus. It's also delicious. The Greek Pinot Noir? I dunno, there are many style variations. But I did try the Riedel Pinot Extreme glass with it this time, which worked great. About $50 as a suggested retail, probably less on the street. #winesofgreece #agiorgitiko #Wine
