  1. Happy to join Mathematical Biosciences as an editorial board member. From what I hear I am not the only person in my group joining at this time but I am hoping to bring my expertise in #AgentBasedModels and #EvolutionaryGameTheory to model #CancerEvolution and #TreatmentResistance in the context of #Ecology

  2. Very happy to see that my colleague Britta Tietjen (@btietjen )
has just joined us here on the 🐘 side!

    Follow her for #TheoreticalEcology
    #EcologicalModelling

    #Landuse
    etc

Without her support, our latest paper on #BushEncroachment in #Savanna systems would never have seen the light of day...

  3. I've now pivoted from timescales of millions of years, to days/weeks. I'm interested in how sexual conflict in insects changes (or doesn't) when population densities are very low. In particular, can insects' capacity for #parthenogenesis (asexual reproduction) help them survive population bottlenecks?

I hope to address this topic with experiments and #AgentBasedModels / #IndividualBasedModels. I'm also interested in using #MachineLearning to make the #simulation process more efficient.

I am a junior research group leader for #ecoevo #modelling at the University of Hohenheim in Germany.

We study all kinds of #EcologicalNetworks. We want to know how such networks are structured, how they maintain their balance and how they respond to #globalchange. We approach these questions from a theoretical point of view, using computer simulations and mathematics.
