I was in such relationship for 26 years with my ex-wife. I was 24, and she was 44 when we met.
Guess what? I'm still in an age gap relationship. My bf is 35, and I'm 52.

She already had kids. I did not want kids of my own. What's this fucking edict that everybody should produce children? Eh?
So I've been at it for a long time, even if I did not know what I was doing.
Now that I'm out of multiple closets as pansexual, polyamorous, into BDSM, and still thinking nothing of age gap relationships...

As I was saying, now that I'm out of multiple closets, it has become clearer to me that a lot of society's edicts are arbitrary rules disguised as scientific fact.
