A Game About Digging A Hole (PC/Mobile, XPd on PC) You spot an ad for a house that claims there's treasure buried in the back yard. After paying an oddly low price, it's time to get digging!
So this is a fairly short (there's even an achieve for beating it in a half hour) very simple game that's literally about digging a hole, lol. Very light sim game, you start out with a basic ass shovel and with some elbow grease and selling of ores you find, you can upgrade not only your shovel into an automatic drilling machine, but you'll also get and improve a jet pack, and a couple other things as well.
For what seems like a very basic and short time sink, I found it oddly engaging (but then I do like a good sim.) Ended up putting 6 hours into it, playing through it twice. Only achieve I don't have is the "beat it in 30mins" one I mentioned. There's more than rocks and ores to dig up in the backyard, so that certainly ups the engagement factor.
Music, ambiance and SFX are all good. There's a little jank to the hit detection between you and the environment, but it's not really anything beyond the usual spottiness of an FPS type interaction. There's also a decent amount of humor here, as one would expect.
While there's not much meat here for more than a few hours of amusement, the price of admission is also low at $5 US. I'd be hard pressed to find something else for 5 bucks that can entertain me for 6 hours, except during Steam Sales 🤪 (There does seem to be websites that are hosting this game for free? when I searched to see if the dev had made a website for it I found a lot of DL results, so.. course YMMV on the risk of trying one of those DLs)
So overall, if you like sim games or want to see if you/your friend(s) or partner(s) might like sim games, I'd suggest checking out Digging A Hole. It'll give you a idea what the genre is like without burying you under 100 systems to manage, heh. 👍 👍

So tonight I started, and then finished #AGameAboutDiggingAHole
It's a brief experience, but also a deeply (lol) consuming one. I've not moved, spoken or done much of anything over the last 3 hours, I just dug.
Honestly, that was exactly what I needed after spending 3 months basically playing nothing but Khazan.
Pallet cleanser.

Yesterday evening I finished "A game about digging a hole".
It's a complex experience critisizing today's socioeconomic tendencies, the merits of caring for one another and... nah.It's literally a game where you dig a hole, sell ore and search for treasure. It's one of those gems that takes an idea, break it down to its core and runs with it.
I really enjoyed it. -
