While I'm waiting for Monster (怪物) to become available for streaming, I ended up re-watching another Kore-eda favourite tonight, After The Storm (in the original Japanese 海よりもまだ深く, "Even deeper than the sea", taken from the song lyrics of a song, 別れの予感, Premonition of a break-up, that plays on the radio during one of the key scenes of the film).

One of Kore-eda's most personal films, it's just as wonderful the second time around, although I had just finished watching ドラゴン桜 Dragon Sakura a few days ago, and it felt a bit weird seeing 阿部寛 Abe Hiroshi again in this. But he's a great actor, so that's ok 😊
