Jean-Baptiste Charbonneau was the son of Sacagawea & the youngest member of the Corps of Discovery to travel to the Pacific Ocean & back. He was educated in St. Louis, then spent six years in Europe, learning German, French & Spanish. He returned to North America in 1829 & roamed the far west for nearly 40 years, as a mountain man, guide, interpreter, magistrate & prospector. He died near Jordan Valley & laid to rest here near the Oregon/Idaho border.
