  1. The Chronicles and Palala mission

This little jol was a whole book worth of an adventure! Short explanation of why.

The first time someone tried to kill me because of my love of nature. Selomie Maritz, owner of the Palala Rhino Sanctuary. She thought she was clever by getting someone that, at that stage, was well known in the Anti Poaching business on her property, and pretend she was starting an Anti Poaching Unit. She also thought I was as thick as two bricks.
When I published her ” helicopter drill ” fiasco life got, just a little bit dangerous. The fact that I had photographic proof that the helicopter was Danie Groenewald’s caused her a few problems. That I still lived on her property at the time, caused ME a little problem.
One fine day her ” nephew” arrived in order to hunt, on a Rhino Sanctuary!? Had some nice rifles too. 😉.
So for one long weekend, I became a ghost. I watched the little shit trying to find me from afar. I believe a hunting accident was the plan.
Paranoid? Nope. Later when I had left I got a phone call from my friend from my good old bad days, now based in America. K says, ” Wayne, what kak have you being making?” Me “The normal, old chap, why?”
K ” There is a lady trying to get a contract out on you.”
    Me “Shit, who!?”
    K Selomie Maritz.
    Me ” Fuck!”
So I became a ghost again. Hiding in downtown Johannesburg, at a friend’s art studio. Now I was buddies with all the informal traders and street people there. Some white boy , if they could track me to my hiding spot , would stick out like a sore thumb, and I would know about it very, very quickly. It would not go well for him, don’t care how professional he is, those streets are dangerous.
When that didn’t work her husband Niel, a lawyer, nog al, actually phoned me and said straight out he will kill me himself. That was funny.
A year later had similar problems with a guy called Hume, who owns the most Rhino of any person in the world. He first tried the Honey Trap before he got into thinking about the killing business.
    But that is another story….
