  1. Ceebu jën (thiéboudienne) is Senegal’s national dish: fish and vegetables simmered in a rich tomato broth, followed by rice cooked in that same liquid so it absorbs every bit of flavour.

Traditionally served from one large shared platter, it is a dish of family meals, celebration and hospitality. UNESCO added ceebu jën to its Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2021.

  3. I have a new #cookbook and so I had to try at least one new #recipe this weekend.

The first thing I tried was Senniyat Batatis Bel Geema (fried potatoes cooked in a spiced tomato and minced meat sauce).

I made the Geema (spiced, minced meat with caramelized onion), then cooked the potatoes.

Then it was just putting them together with tomato juice and paste, garlic, coriander.

  4. Had a chuckle while cooking lunch today that I would like to share with y'all.

For context, I'm following a HelloFresh recipe for peanut stew. Watch the hands, and ask yourself: "Is the rice White enough?"

I assume that #HelloFresh uses a stock image for "cook the rice" but I'm also amused that this was the result.
