Today's insider threat story concerns a ruling by the Australian Financial Complaints Authority that held HSBC liable for money a customer lost to a rogue employee who was a scammer.
#HSBC may now be liable for all of the losses incurred by their other customers who also lost money due to a scam in which the scammer used the bank's real messaging system and their access to customer account info to scam the customers out of their money.

Guess I should do one of these.
#Introduction: I'm an Innovation Strategist at Affinity Conuslting Group. In that role I help legal professionals be successful with Microsoft 365 and AI.
I was formerly a Senior Content PM at #Microsoft based in Redmond, WA. At Microsoft I mostly worked on #cybersecurity, #AI, and #Microsoft365 content and #UX for end-users.
Been in #tech my entire professional life, though I started off with an Epson QX-10 running CP/M which gives you an idea of how many decades that is. Spent most of my career in #LegalTech including a decade in-house at law firms in #Honolulu and #LosAngeles.
Wrote a few books, including "The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft #Outlook", "The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft #Word", "Microsoft #Office365 for Lawyers", and "#OneNote in One Hour".
Have spoken at #ABATECHSHOW more times than I can count, 18 or 20 at this point I guess. Getting me to talk is easy, getting me to shut up is hard.
Famous for never having been a lawyer.
I'm a slow #Ironman #triathlete and member of the #Marathon Maniacs. Have run a couple of dozen marathons and completed 2 full Ironman races (Texas and Arizona).
Spent about 15 years as a member of the American #Football Coaches Association (#AFCA). Coached high school and semi-pro football in California and Arizona. Mostly QBs and WRs but some of everything. #Chargers fan so I'm used to disappointment.
Enjoyed 10 years working aboard #USSMissouri (BB-63) after she retired to Naval Station #PearlHarbor in #Hawaii. Mostly did data systems and communications on board, and occasionally showed folks around and answered questions about the ship.
