Current #aerialfirefighting operations are limited to times with clear visibility when a Tactical Air Group Supervisor or "air boss" in a piloted aircraft can provide direction. Otherwise, pilots may risk collisions.
The ACERO technology will provide that air boss capability for #remotelypilotedaircraft operations—and users will be able to do it from the ground.

This Lockheed P-2 Naptune, built in the early 1950s, served with the US Navy for 18 years as an anti-submarine and patrol aircraft, the another 12 years in civilian service as an aerial tanker fighting Forest fires. As far as the VLATs (very large air tankers) the 4 10tanker DC-10’s home base is in Albuquerque…Tanker 911 left LakeCity Florida on 4/11 and went to Arizona…Tanker 914 is on the tarmac in Roswell NM…soon the aircraft will leave for Albuquerque for maintenance and prep for the #fireseason2023

This vid was captured by T.J Maltby while the VLAT was working on fire 1148 in #Texas. While I hope the #CaliforniaWildFires are minimal I always feel safer with these very large air tankers on the tarmac at #McClellan in Sacramento
