Pauline Esther Phillips was an advice columnist and radio show host who began the advice column Dear Abby. She started the Dear Abby advice column in 1956. She found great success and her advice column was syndicated to over 1400 newspapers around the world, making it the single most popular advice column of all time.
In 1963, she started a daily radio show based on her advice column called Dear Abby, which dealt with the same material, but in a radio show format. Pauline Ester Phillips worked with her daughter Jeanne Phillips on the column until her retirement, when she handed the column over to her.
Pauline Phillips was the identical twin sister of Esther Pauline Lederer, aka Ann Landers ( https://babka.social/@jewoftheday/110797563220517743 ) and their rivalry became quite bitter, with them never truly reconciling.
