On one machine, I let it update and it didn't forget those preferences - but it arguably did something worse.
I have Firefox set to open new tabs to a blank page. My "home" page is a blank page. I don't want anything loaded when I start the browser or open a new tab or window. So I have all the junk turned off in the "Home" settings.
And today, when it restarted after the update, it showed me a page that said (paraphrasing) "Hey, we know you turned off all our marketing junk for your Home screen, but here's a preview of what you're missing. Please click <here> to turn it all back on".
So Firefox is now going with the "Yes" and "Maybe later" model? FFS, Mozilla.

I've written (link below) about AdBlock Cardiff successfully persuading Cardiff Council to clamp down on harmful adverts.
Sadly, at the same time, the council has also put in applications for a series of HUGE ad screens by main roads into the city. Really important for groups like AdBlock Cardiff to stand against all this. Please share if you're interested and supportive!

Good news, everybody! [1]
#Patreon has now added a new useless "#suggestions" widget to my timeline, and probably yours too! It tries to get me to sign up for more creators and pay them more money, without actually having a clue what I want to see!
It's another case of a company trying to jam junk down your throat to goose their "engagement" metrics. Somebody probably got a #raise or even a #promotion for nursing this #antifeature through the pipeline. I hope they have to drink themselves to sleep because of it.
It's clutter, and it pisses me off because it's just one more thing making it harder to actually see the #content I'm #paying for. Never mind the fact that adding un-skippable #advertising to a service I pay for every month is driving me awfully close to just shutting my Patreon account.
Remember, Advertising Shits In Your Head.
