  1. Also I once again realized how shit watching an #NBA game is compared to #FIBA basketball.

    I was just able to enjoy watching the finals game of the European
    #Basketball Campionship in high definition on a free channel without any ad breaks. There weren't any extended timeouts just to force commercials for disgusting fast food and stupidly big pickup trucks down my throat.

    I like watching basketball every now and then. I hate watching commercials. Fuck the

  2. There were lots of shocking stories in Sarah Wynn-Williams' "Careless People," an exposé of her time as Facebook's public policy director. One that we haven't seen highlighted much: the company tracked when adolescent girls deleted selfies "so that it can serve a beauty ad to them at that moment," Wynn-Williams says. In 2017, The Australian alleged that Facebook had a pitch deck for advertisers claiming that it could exploit "moments of psychological vulnerability" in its users by targeting terms like "worthless," "insecure," "stressed," "defeated," "anxious," "stupid," "useless," and "like a failure."   8. @antonioserrata @brad @BlackAzizAnansi I expect #venture funding will show up in the #fediverse within a couple months. It will be a mixed bag, I think.

    There will be #advertisingindustry plays. Expect brands to pay to have an account on major servers. Then #marketing companies buying accounts and selling boosts. Might even see folks curating block lists just like how browser ad blockers work today.
