16-Feb : An actor that inspired a quest (watching other works)?I started quests with my very 1st kDrama, so I have many ongoing.
The most successful quest that started in 2024 is Lee Seung Gi. I first saw him in "A Korean Odyssey," then went on to "Vagabond," "My Girlfriend is a Gumiho," and "King 2 Hearts."
I wasn't crazy about Gumiho, but he was great in the rest.
Not only is he a great actor, but he sings (he's done some of his dramas' OST songs), he's a philanthropist & he has led efforts to make the South Korean entertainment industry better and safer for actors & idols.

15-Feb : Most beautiful location?For this year's dramas:
"Queen of Tears" has some of the most beautiful sets - the home, the department store, the small town, the aquarium, but the location shots in Germany were gorgeous - not only the buildings & monuments, but the field of flowers.
As for gorgeous locations within S. Korea, I think "Love Next Door" did a great job - the temple, the neighborhoods, the onggi pots all provided beautiful backdrops.

13-Feb : Most memorable design for the opening credits? There were many great animated opening credits this year. But the opening that I remember is "Flex X Cop" - the colors & the music really made it.
Note: Gyeongseong Creature's opening was also amazing - especially once you knew the story.

12-Feb : Most memorable food(eating or slapping)? There always seems to be some delicious food in every drama, but the funniest food scene that I remember was in "Marry My Husband."
I've never seen ice cream served up like this.

11-Feb : Most memorable villain? The most shocking villain from this year's dramas has to be Song Ha Yoon as Jung Soo Min in "Marry My Husband." The writer & the actors do a fabulous job of slowly revealing the villainy & it's so surprising & creepy - excellent twisty makjang.

10-Feb : Worst case of 2nd Lead Syndrome? This year, of the dramas I watched, the worst case of 2LS was "Cheer Up."
I had recently seen Kim Hyun Jin as the sweet secretary in "My Sweet Mobster." I had also seen him as the 2nd lead in "Dreaming of a Freaking Fairytale." In "Cheer Up" he's so sweet again & it just should have been him.

08-Feb : Saddest scene?Looking over my list of dramas I watched last year, one scene that hit me with real sadness was from "King 2 Hearts." They deserved so much better.
"The Third Charm" gets an honorable mention because there were several scenes in that one that made me cry. The saddest drama of last year goes to "Mr. Plankton" - I think I cried every episode.

07-Feb : Most memorable character development?Jang Tae Sang (Park Seo Joon) in Gyeongseong Creature. A man who lived for himself begins to question his values as he becomes concerned for someone else. It's difficult for a character to change so much and still have it be believable. Park Seo Joon does an amazing job.

The last episode of #YouthOfMay was so heartbreaking that I cried even after finishing it. I've never cried so much for a drama.
Particularly the scene when the ML is in front of the ocean and says those touching lines!
I have watering eyes by just remembering it 🥺
-
#Feb07 #day10 Most memorable character development
Park Min-young in #MarryMyHusband
From a naive, insecure, manipulated and abused wife, she turned into this confident, badass and vengeful angel. Also Park Jin-young in #TheDevilJudge. After being betrayed he threw away all of his principles and decided to follow the devil's plan.

#Feb06 #day9 Most memorable ointment application and/or bandaging of a shoulder, chest or upper arm?
In #W2Worlds ep 1 #HanHyoJoo performs an emergency procedure on #LeeJongSuk by stabbing a ball pen 🖊️ into his chest to evacuate the air from his lungs.
The two leads stare at each other for the first time this way 😂
Ok, I may be OT, but I don't recall anything more memorable than that!

03-Feb : Most memorable line?"Those who are incompetent focus on the little thing they know, and make a huge deal out of it."
- Kang Ji Won (Park Min Young)
in "Marry My Husband."There were SO many great lines in so many dramas this year. Even bad dramas often had one line that really stood out. Many were about living life to the fullest & the depth of love & friendship.
I decided on this one because it seems appropriate for certain political situations right now.

04-Feb : Most memorable sidekick?I think a sidekick is someone who is by your side supporting you, even if you don't want or like it.
Of the 2024 dramas, I thought Nam Ja Yeon (Han Ji Hyun) in "No Gain, No Love" was a great sidekick for Son Hae Yeong (Shin Min Ah). She provided a family, a voice of reason, & made Son Hae Yeong realize things about her life. And she had her own great story line too.

#Feb05 #day8 Most memorable child actor (under 13)?
Ik-jun's son in #HospitalPlaylist, played by the actor #KimJoon
He was funny, attaching and smart.

#Feb3 #day6 Most memorable line?I provide no context because that would be a spoiler, but quite at the beginning of my Korean learning journey I understood the line without reading the subtitle and I laughed so hard I remember it to this day.
#ChoiMinho is an amazing actor, I hope he gets a lead role someday!
Drama: Lovestruck In The City

02 Feb: A drama you dropped & then picked back up & enjoyed?I don't drop many. I do tend to delay if things aren't going the way I want. "Dr. Romantic Season 3" came very close to being dropped - too much parental meddling. I delayed it & the watch lasted 3 months.
But I am glad I finished! It really turned out well (aside from the too obvious monologue at the end).

#Feb2 #day5 A drama you dropped & then picked back up & enjoyed?
After reading many positive reviews in this community I picked up #StrongWomanDoBongSoon and started to binge it by ep 3 or 4.
During my first attempt I couldn't get to the end of the first episode 😄 -

#Feb01 #day4 Most memorable use of sound?
I'm going mainstream on this one and pick the Ring-a ring song in #SquidGame season 2
The contrast between the absolute silence of the players, the ominous feeling in their hearts (except for Thanos and his buddy 😂!) and the joyful children's song is a pure masterpiece.

01 Feb: Most memorable use of sound. You've all seen the visual tricks with lighting & focus to indicate thoughts or feelings or a time change or.....
"A Killer Paradox" was the 1st drama where this was really evident with sound for me.
The soundtrack is appropriate & super effective, & the sound FX are spot on & heighten the intensity or emotions.
But in some scenes, we hear *everything* - the click of the lighter, the inhale, the exhale, the wrinkle of clothing as someone turns - each sound is crisp & clear & changes the feeling of that scene from the normal sound levels - and it really puts you on edge.
The attention to detail is amazing!

31Jan: Most memorable grandparent character?
The actress Kim Hae Sook was in several dramas I saw in the last year:
Mr. Plankton
Gyeongseong Creature
Marriage, Not Dating
No Gain, No Love
My Demon
Alienoid& she was fabulous as an actress in all, but the most memorable character she played was - Gil Joong Gan - in "Strong Girl Namsoon."
The drama itself left a lot to be desired, but Gil Joong Gan's story was the best story line. She was fabulous as she tried to find love again.

CW: #adramalunies2025 Mega Spoiler The Devil Judge
#kdrama #adramalunies2025
#Jan30 #Day2 Most unexpected twist on a trope? The trope is childhood friends turned into lovers. They are usually granted a happy ending. However in The Devil Judge the female lead dies, leaving just a sour and vengeful first male lead.
-
30-Jan: Most unexpected twist on a trope?
Dreaming of a Freaking Fairytale is such a farce that nothing is sacred and they turn a lot of tropes into gags.
The typical catch & grab is reversed - which is becoming more common, but still turns out really unexpected, when the result is everything but love & tenderness.
Another is when a couple each gets one earbud to listen to the same thing. The music starts out lovely, but then something unexpected starts playing accidentally.
They did a fine job with turning tropes on their head.

#Jan29 #Day1 Funniest scene?Since @whoosh already mentioned "the world gift" from No Gain No Love,
I'm going with the scene in High Society where a drunk Lee Ji-yi (#LimJiYeon) rips Yoo Chang-soo (#ParkHyungSik)'s shirt 😂.I swear I didn't see it coming and laughed so hard!

Happy Lunar New Year! 🐍
My 1st entry for the Asian Drama Lunie Awards 2025:29-Jan: Funniest Scene?
Although there were many, many funny scenes in "No Gain No Love," the 2 with the gift box of items from around the world (the discovery of the box, & the contents of the box being used for self-defense) had me in tears from laughing so hard (Star Wars!!)
I guess different streamers censored the contents in various ways - from blurring them to adding sombreros & the dialogue varied somewhat, but overall, hilarious!
-
I’m going to participate in the Asian Drama Lunie Awards that starts today, because it seems like a lot of fun thinking about all of the categories. Mine will be only kdramas though …
Day 1: funniest scene
I can’t think of one particular scene, so I’m going to mention two shows that made me laugh out loud every single episode: Mr. Queen and Yumi’s cells.

A drama you dropped & then picked back up & enjoyed?
#OurBlues was one that didn't appeal to me for the first 2 episodes, mainly due to the story. Luckily, multiple people encouraged me to resume the show, filmed on #JejuIsland It's SO good!! The ensemble show covers so many heavy topics in a hopeful manner. The scenery and the cast are amazing!
