Because there’s something about this space and the community I’ve been finding here that makes me feel so much more connected to my most authentic self. The people and atmosphere here leave me feeling more enriched and better off than when I first arrived.

Hi! I’m Ellie. I work for a women’s rights group doing #policy work and public education primarily about legal rights and how to navigate systems. I’m #progressive leaning and very interested in state and local #politics.
I am an adopted person and I serve as the spokesperson for Vermont Adoptee Rights. We were instrumental in passing a significant #adopteerights bill this spring that will restore all VT born adopted peoples right to obtain their own original birth certificates. We are now turning our attention to Massachusetts.
I love #Gardening, #Cooking, #baking, #kayaking, backyard birdwatching, and playing the #piano.
New hobbies of mine include #Embroidery and trying (very slowly) to learn the #cello.
I have adorable pets and will likely share photos of them, photos of my garden, and #LandscapePhotography. Sometimes, I’ll share my thoughts about politics and about living as an #disabled #adoptee.

My Claim to Fame of 2022: I helped #Vermont become the 11th state in the entire nation to affirm #equalrights for all adopted people to obtain certified copies of their real, original, uncensored, unaltered birth certificates like all other adult citizens born in the state can.
Vermont revoked this basic right from #adopted people back in 1946. The passage of Vermont’s #AdopteeEqualRights bill corrects a 76 year long #civilrights and #humanrights injustice and is an historic win for the #adopteerights movement.

There’s such an early 2000s internet community vibe around here that I find really refreshing after using those huge, corporate social media sites for so long.
I initially thought I’d try to reconstruct the kind of community I’ve stumbled into on the birdapp over the years, but after spending some time just reading and exploring and acquainting myself with this space, I’m much more interested in seeing what grows organically here.
