Nocka didn’t settle in, no matter how much I tried. In the end I had to take her to a shelter. A good one, paid, clean… but still a cage. I don’t want to leave her there, it hurts to think of it. But right now I just can’t give her the kind of real cat happiness she deserves. For now she’s safe — and I hope someone will love her the way she needs.

When the weather turned cold, I finally decided to bring Nochka home. She refused to stay in the basement, and I wouldn’t have been allowed to keep her there anyway. She didn’t want to go to the other basement with the cats, and people were no longer eager to let her into the stairwell. I brought her home a few times, and eventually just kept her. Here’s how she reacted.

Slight mishap when he immediately started kneading.
Claws.. my delicate human flesh.. 😥
To his credit, he started kneading *without* the daggers. Very smart boy.
10mins later, he even fell asleep on me!
Just need to train him not to jump on things..
