What an incredible, historic film. A faithful depiction of part of the Valmiki Ramayana, one half of Bharatiya itihāsa.
This so beautifully aesthetic a film. Excellent VFX. Incredibly cinematic.
Special shout-out to the casting director: such an amazing ensemble, each of whom smash it out of the park. Everyone was just right for their role. At last Kriti Sanon gets a role which lets her acting chops get prominence - casting coup of the century to get her as Maa Sita. This is Saif Ali Khan’s finest performance alongside that in Omkara. At last, a Raavan who is menacing, not comical. And Prabhas, man, is the boss. He is laboratory-built to play the role of Bharat’s civilisational heroes. He looks the part, both in physicality but also the way he interacts with fellow actors, especially the scene with Shabri.
I saw no problem at all with the deliberate stylistic choices of the team, eg, re Lanka and Raavan’s look. Borrowing from GoT/Blade Runner without undermining the fact that, while Raavan was a Shiv Bhakt, etc, he was a kidnapper and rank thug.
Music is awesome (especially non-diegetic ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Ram Siya Ram’), but the BGM is the real showstopper. Bravo.
CGI is excellent too, especially the animations for Sugriv, Jamavant and, of course, Bhagwan Hanuman. Really really amazing stuff by the VFX team.
And, above all, this film upholds the essence of the Valmiki Ramayana. The victory of Dharma over evil and injustice.
Folks, I hated the first teaser of this film.
And I am so glad that the team made the changes they did.
Because #Adipurush will go down in Indian film canon.

Sampoorna Ramayanam starring Sobhan Babu is a stellar Telugu adaptation of Ramayana made 50 years ago, and it still feels superior to the abomination we call #Adipurush.
My favourite however is the breathtaking-ly beautiful anime adaptation of Ramayana by Yugo Sako. 😍❤️
