Batman, Leslie H. Martinson, 1966
Si están buscando pasar un rato sumamente divertido y despegarse un poco del tono oscuro y serio que tiene el Caballero de la Noche en las producciones actuales, no hay mejor opción que regresar a los orígenes cinematográficos a color con la adaptación que se estrenó en las salas de cine el 30 de julio de 1966. Esta producción se grabó justo entre la primera y la segunda temporada de la famosa serie de televisión de la época, contando con la dirección de Leslie H. Martinson y trayendo a la pantalla grande todo el colorido estilo del arte pop y las onomatopeyas visuales que hicieron famosa a la franquicia en aquellos años.
La historia nos muestra una alianza verdaderamente caótica donde los cuatro enemigos más grandes de la ciudad deciden unir sus fuerzas para poner en jaque al mundo entero. El Guasón, interpretado por Cesar Romero con su característico bigote cubierto de maquillaje blanco, se junta con el Pingüino, interpretado por Burgess Meredith, el Acertijo bajo la actuación de Frank Gorshin y Gatúbela, que en esta ocasión fue encarnada por Lee Meriwether. Este grupo de villanos logra apoderarse de un invento científico capaz de deshidratar a las personas hasta convertirlas en polvo, utilizándolo para secuestrar a los miembros del Consejo de Seguridad de las Naciones Unidas y pedir un rescate millonario a nivel global.
Para detener este plan absurdo, Adam West en el papel de un Batman muy seguro de sí mismo y Burt Ward como el joven Robin tienen que echar mano de una cantidad increíble de vehículos y herramientas que se presentaron por primera vez en esta cinta. A lo largo de la hora y 45 minutos de duración, vemos al Dúo Dinámico utilizar la Batilancha, el Baticóptero y la Batimoto para moverse por la costa y la ciudad, dejándonos escenas icónicas de la cultura popular como la mítica pelea contra un tiburón explosivo donde el héroe se salva utilizando un aerosol repelente de tiburones XD. Es una película ideal para disfrutar con amigos y entender una época donde los superhéroes buscaban entretener de una forma ligera, alegre y sin tantas complicaciones dramáticas.

¿Sabías que el Batman animado de la clásica serie de Súper Amigos de 1973 iba a ser interpretado por el mismísimo Adam West?
La primera temporada de la serie de los Súper Amigos de Hanna-Barbera estuvo bajo el impacto directo del éxito del show en live action de la década de 1960. Los productores querían contratar a Adam West para mantener la misma identidad de voz pero la tarifa del actor superaba el presupuesto asignado para el proyecto. Por este motivo la producción contrató a Olan Soule para el papel de Batman y a Casey Kasem para el rol de Robin. De todos modos esta versión mantuvo intacto el tono colorido y el enfoque que caracterizó a la famosa producción televisiva anterior. Décadas después en 1984 Adam West finalmente asumió el doblaje del personaje en las temporadas finales de la franquicia animada.

"Batman Flies Again," proclaims the cover of this Look Westward listings magazine from 1966.
The mistaken idea that Batman could fly later became a bit of a problem for ITV. Eventually, before each episode, Adam West appeared in costume in a specially filmed announcement reminding UK viewers: "Remember, kids, Batman can't fly... and neither can you!"
Burt Ward’s Robin would chime in with, "Holy broken bones!"—a line that would be imitated in playgrounds for years to come.

So a while back I watched the 2022 Reeves Directed #TheBatman, and…it's fine. Good, actually. While I am firmly on the #AdamWest side of the #Batman debate, I thought it was okay.
That said, here's what I don't like: in the comics, Batman has a villain that's a giant were-bat, a mind-controlling mastermind with a Alice In Wonderland obsession, a freezy scientist with a tragic back story, and a guy with a distressing obsession with condiments.
(That last one sounds like a joke, but it isn't).
Anyway, none of those fit in with this dark grounded(ish) reality in which they can't even be bothered to get The Penguin's height right.
Do I want a batman movie with the Condiment King as the antagonist? Kinda, but we don't have to go that far. Man Bat fit in fine with the tone set by the Kevin Conroy Batman cartoon.
So let's have *that*. Grimdark edgelord Batman has been an interesting side road, and some of the movies have been alright, but put Bats up against The Ventriloquist already, yeah?

Sixty years ago today, the Batman TV series premiered on ABC, starring Adam West and Burt Ward as Batman and Robin. The first episode, “Hi Diddle Riddle”, pitted the Dynamic Duo against the self-styled ‘Count of Conundrums’, the Riddler (Frank Gorshin).
