Out here, there’s a bowing even the trees are doing.
Winter’s icy hand at the back of all of us.
Black bark, slick yellow leaves, a kind of stillness that feels
so mute it’s almost in another year.I am a hearth of spiders these days: a nest of trying.
We point out the stars that make Orion as we take out
the trash, the rolling containers a song of suburban thunder. -

“Sanctuary”

and the world. The great eyeof the world is both gaze
and gloss. To be swallowed
by being seen. A dream.To be made whole
by being not a witness,
but witnessed. -
U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón, who is known for work that explores the human connection to the natural world, is crafting a new poem dedicated to NASA’s Europa Clipper mission.
Her poem will be engraved on the Europa Clipper spacecraft. It will travel 1.8 billion miles on its path to the Jupiter system.
