  1. My 30 Day Map challenge didn't really survive beyond the first week - too much overwhelm in the day job, but that's ok, I hadn't really expected it to. But the first half of this week is the culmination of #AcWriMo's efforts to pay myself first - the #PRECISE writing week (3 days actually) intended to finalise some papers.

  2. CW: #AcWriMo (academic writing chat)

#AcWriMo 500 words for a newsletter/website this morning! Not technically academic writing, but there's some #ResearchComm involved, so I'm counting it. This afternoon I need to edit two drafts ready to send off to editors. Always easier than writing from scratch!

  7. This piece from @PatThomson reminded me that #AcWriMo is more than just writing productivity. I love the idea of #RegenerativeWriting.

Reading it got me to reflect on my #AcademicWriting habits, as I've developed some bad ones and let some good ones slip over the last couple of years. To do this I'm using the Writing BASE diagnostic exercise in Prof Helen Sword's fabulous book on successful academic writing Air & Time & Light & Space. You can find the tool here... lnkd.in/gXKT62uH and links to the book.

The tool has confirmed what I suspected. I've fallen out of love with writing and need to work on my behavioural and social habits. This isn't surprising considering what we've been through over the last couple of years. Our routines and social lives were disrupted—big time! To address this I'm starting with re-introducing consistent #SocialWriting. I love social writing! It's energising and motivating, which makes my writing joyful and increases my #WritingProductivity 😊

How do you feel about social writing? Is this something you want to do more of? How would you like to improve your social writing habits?

  8. Oh, thanks for this toot and short read.

For me, today's #AcWriMo was writing not for others but as deeper engagement with a transcript. And looking forward to it as meeting a friend for #ShutUpAndWrite #SUAW

Over the weekend my focus was on reading (listening), but writing on this platform is a different engagement for me... appreciated by at least a few others 😀

Does your AcWriMo look different as in the blog post by @PatThomson highlighted by @serenissimaj ☝️?
