Hey Atlanta & GA, did you know that George Washington Carver Park at Lake Allatoona was established in 1950 as the first “Georgia State Park for Negroes.” Apparently it was quite popular, lots of history. It is still open to the public and managed by Bartow County.
Today I observed Juneteenth by riding up there. I was disappointed, but not surprised, to find the gate closed. This place should be hopping on days like today.

1/ Stoked to see that both #Kennesaw & #Acworth are having Juneteenth celebrations today at times that don’t overlap meaning that I can hit up both because I am literally equidistant from both locations that make for pleasant #motorcycle excursions.
But it’s telling, I think, to see that Kennesaw’s event is midday noon hosted by the Police Citizens Advisory Board (whatever the heck that is?) while Acworth’s is at 6pm evening into the night hosted by the city’s Parks and Rec dept

I found a sweet ridge road between Acworth and Canton for the motorcycle and now having lunch at the aptly named Bizarre Coffee cafe. Old town Canton is quite photogenic

Well this was super cool. Walking Ruffers this evening as the sun was setting I heard a bunch of geese squawking over a green space creek next to a neighbor’s house and was surprised to see it was actually a ginormous and majestic flying formation of them coming in from the south and then they flew directly over us heading dead nuts due north! There was probably a hundred of them :mindblown:

While chaos ensued down in Brasilia this afternoon, I made a quick trip to my local big box hardware store and was surprised to see this row of gas powered minibikes for sale with a few electric ebikes in the mix too.
The minibikes have fake plastic gas tanks that are storage compartment had me thinking that they would be so much cooler if they were electric tho -
Note to self: after paying attention to the Speaker of the House chaos for the first time last night, I gotta start calling my Representative and Senators on a regular basis.
The goal is to call at least once per month, but ideally, weekly.

@larryfeltonj no worries! Yea Acworth is really small and not very newsworthy. Although their downtown revitalization and focus on the “other side of the tracks” has been really good over the past few years. I’m thinking tax money well spent.
