  1. Okay, Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty is super relaxing and fun, definitely worth the hype! #actuallyautistic #fidget

  2. I've been having a bad pain day, alongside a prolonged autistic food struggle. I want and need to eat something, but everything is unappealing. I don't feel hungry, usually just a bit queasy and weak.

Any #ActuallyAutistic pro-tips for feeding yourself when everything makes you feel sick?

  3. Has anyone seen statistics about autistic use of chatbots?
On Mastodon I see a lot of other autistic people who also despise them. Which makes sense to me: whenever I’ve encountered them, it's like a regular unwanted computer interaction, but with a veneer of neurological conversation bells and whistles.
However, I know that chatbots prey on lonely people. And there's gotta be some twit out there like, “Can AI help autistic children communicate?”

  4. Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1045 , Monday 07/09/2026

Monday started at crack of sparrows fart, down the gym just after 7am.

Had quite a hard session, both because it required more effort than usual & also because it was unusually busy so my routine was badly disrupted.

Got home had breakfast then did my chores.

Managed to bully myself into cleaning behind the cooker & do some more in the gargantuan task of clearing up the garage to make room for all the stuff from my parents in law’s house.

    Final Thoughts.

Motivation was low today but I am glad that I did get a couple of things done.

Thank you to all those who are helping me on this journey, in a myriad different ways. I am thankful to each & every one of you! 🫂 🫶🐿️🖖

  5. Autism and self-help books are generally a bad combination. These awful books are about as much use as having an instruction manual for the wrong gadget!

  6. What a lot of people who end up in burnout go through is they work really, really hard for a long time and at doing all the things that they think are gonna make them happy. If you’re autistic, this is not just the job and power dynamics, but it’s also the masking.

It’s doing things “the right way”, doing things the neurotypical way, meeting expectations. This is a very, very common burnout experience. 1/2

  7. Nothing like being blocked everywhere by someone you thought was a friend just because you had an autistic meltdown.

I guess I don't get to have friends. I'm just not good enough. No one wants me around. Sorry for existing.

  8. The trail leads inside the Pillar of Jor. First, however, there’s a Sphinx with a (second) riddle.

I haven’t the faintest idea what the answer is—or how I’m supposed to find it.

@autistics #ActuallyAutistic AND NOW finally done with the board budget prep documentation…

…assuming the treasurer does not want any more changes tomorrow…

...and now back to my previously scheduled time off that was interrupted a couple of times for this nonsense (see prior posts)

  10. There is an order to the decline when you're experiencing autistic burnout. The first things to go are the optional things. Friendships. Social events. Hobbies. Creative projects. Replying to texts.

Then politeness goes, and saying things in a nicer way, and having the energy to show other people you care about them. Not because the caring stopped. Because the energy to express it isn’t there. 1/3

  11. Might be another #nd thing, but let's talk about scope for a second.

I feel like I'm always aware of the current scope - at work, in meetings, at the dinner table with my family. So erratic scope-breaking irritates me.

I wished people would prepare this or get consent first, like: »So, folks, let's open up this discussion and consider X or Y as well. Totally different scope, but I wanna go there now. Wanna come along?«

Why is that so rare? Why sudden scope-changes?

  12. [P] I've been thinking about what a wonderfully odd quirk of evolution a lack of tribalism is. I've taken a bit of an interest in The Isle, lately. There's this rules vs. reality aspect to it that neurodivergent players just ignore. What can I say? We:re born to be rebels. That's not just a funny thing to say, either. You havw to have a social drive to be socially comformist. And I'm blessedly asocial. The big wuestion is...

nothing she says is pure joke EVER, as is with me, as we're both autistic, so. just that you know. AND she also states that in there, in this comedy piece, the being-honest-even-if-it-sounds-like-a-joke, so, it really is severe and nobody will be able to say in whatever-period-of-time "oh, i haven't seen this coming, she was SO GOOD a comedian!!1"

  15. #WritersCoffeeClub 9/5 “Do you track your word count? How? Why?”

I use a spreadsheet, because I want to know. It gives me a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.

The spreadsheet has one sheet per year, entries for every day (at least a cell), it has rows for every project and sums for every week, month and year, and yes, there is a master sheet that lists the final word count from every year.

Yes, I'm Autistic, why do you ask? 😂
