There are several holidays associated with fireworks, and while they can be pretty to watch, the loud and sudden sounds can be triggering for some people. And other people have difficulties with the bright lights, or other sensory issues, painful associations, or PTSD triggers. 1/2

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1052 , Monday 14/09/2026
Monday started early - as Mondays do.
Down the gym, took it a bit easier today because I had a few worrying twinges in my chest over the weekend, I think I may have pushed the envelope a bit too far last week.
Daily chores & breakfast when I got home.
I decided to pull up my big boys trousers around 10ish & called TWAM’s head office - where a very nice lady gave me lots of excuses & gave me the contact numbers of their local collectors.
While I was on a roll I called the first on the list who was not at home, but the 2nd attempt was far more successful & a meet was arranged for 11:30.
Leapt semi athletically into the car & got may ass across to my late MiLs.
Long story short tools are donated & another task is ticked off dealing with my MiL’s estate!
Got home & after lunch I tackled cleaning the washing machine as we had enough sunshine to provide the power for the cleaning cycle.
Finally relaxed around 2pm & hit the PS5.
Quiche & salad for tea with the last of the strawberries with a dollop of ice cream!
Final Thoughts.
Not a bad day at all, I hate using the phone & it takes a lot to place a call. Also not overly happy with dealing with strangers. But needs must & I am really pleased that I faced the dial tone demons & that my FiL’s tools will now have a 2nd lease of life!
Thank you to all those who are helping me on this journey, in a myriad different ways. I am thankful to each & every one of you! 🫂 🫶🐿️🖖

Yesterday I returned from a week-long vacation in Poland, where it was great, but also depressing. It was depressing because I saw a lot of couples there, a lot of beautiful women, and it only made me feel lonelier.
Another reason was that Gdańsk, in particular, was a very beautiful city, and I’d love to move there. But unfortunately, in my current situation, that’s not possible, since I don’t have any money and I have social anxiety. It’s all so frustrating.

You deserve to have tools that work for your nervous system, during events like Grito de Dolores, going back to school, even the change in weather. And it is okay to get help with sensory overwhelm. And it is possible to make this part of your life better.

Now if only I can get my brain to not do shit like that anymore.
I know my brain is being bullshit, but it's hard to just dismiss when it's got a hand on the need while picking out the album to spin.
I don't like that it takes several days , then an external source pointing out my brain is being bullshit, before I can override the problem the rejection sensitivity causes.But that requires therapy... although being autistic and growing up in the particular type of abusive household that I did probably made the problem a permanent scratch or a defect in the turntable, rather than just dust in the groove. 😮💨
All this kicked off because I couldn't just say "Hey remember I kind of developed lore depth around this [thing], can we have another conversation about it to work out how it'll function in your story?"
I won't bother y'all with the tactical MIRV of a narrative my brain was bombing me with. It's stupid and just makes me angry I could not switch it off.Yeah he forgot, but in absolute fairness the last conversation was back it like March or April. And also it's not reasonable for my brain to operate as if everyone else has the same obsessive-tick when it comes to keeping track of lore and making sure 1+1 equals 2 +or- 5%

It's Grito de Dolores this week, and if your community is one that celebrates, there might be more stimuli: fireworks, people talking, the pressure to socialize.
This is a reminder that you don't have to participate if these events feel overwhelming, and especially if they are painful. You can excuse yourself when you need to. Take care of you.

[P] I'm looking at Hasbro-fare as mire the neurotypical-hiverarchian mecca of tabletop. Still deeply sexist, still kinda racist, very corporate, not very imaginative... But tribal? Oh boy, you bet. When worlds like Savage Rifts, Pathfinder 2E, and others are out there waiting for creatively unhinged stories with compassionate, clever heroes? "I hit orc with warmace!" doesn't have much appeal at all.
