  1. If you're into electronics and home recording, recording in general, or making, I've got a ton of projects I've built over the last 3 or 4 years all documented to varying degrees up here with hashtags.

    Here they are. Good luck.

  2. Lots of my preamps were used on yesterday's session. Here's a few hard at work.

Here's some hashtags pointing to the build threads of various pieces of gear used in last night's session.

    #MP573Build #Neve1073Build #SSL9kBuild #ActiveDIBuild #D87Build

  3. I've said this before, but I'll say it again. The people I've met in the DIY communities I'm in are very cool and generous.

I mentioned in passing that I really liked these new stickers that a German vendor was using on his Haufe transformers and thought nothing of it. Two weeks later I get a letter in the mail from him, and I was really confused. I was wondering if he accidentally sent me a bill or something. But it was two of the new stickers. Very cool and Art Deco looking.

  4. Someone help me. I'm building 2 more DI boxes. I think there's a cure for this.

  5. Just for the halibut, I built another "Neve" DI but I used the Ed Anderson 10468 instead of the Carnhill. Supposed to be electrically identical. I'll let ya know!

Here the transformer is wired but none of the connectors. It's actually done, and I'll post more pics tomorrow.

  6. Used the Neve DI on Banjo tonight. Sounded great.

  7. Glamour shot of my Carnhill DI. I'm using different color boxes and panels for fun. Blue and gold happens to be my high-school colors.

  8. Been working on this one for a while. An inside look at my Carnhill/Neve DI. The transformer doesn't fit on the PCB, so you have to mount it off board and run jumpers.

  9. This is the Ed Anderson Carnhill 9045/10468 Neve style transformer clone.

Is it a transformer, or the Monolith from 2001. You decide...

  10. Got the Carnhill all jumpered and wired for installation.

  11. There's no getting around it. That is one sexy transformer.

  12. I ordered a Carnhill 10468 (renamed VTB-9045 for some inexplicable reason) for an upcoming project. Ordering shit from the UK when the vendor doesn't do Paypal is a major pain. My bank doesn't do the UK.

  13. To any and all who follow me for my builds. Right now there 3 active hashtags here with my builds:

    #TubePreBuild

    #ActiveDIBuild

    #D87Build

  14. Finished two more Bo Hansen DIs, this time with different transformers. These are made with OEP and Haufe. I did the front panels myself, from Front Panel Express. Much more fun than buying metalwork from someone else.

  15. One can never have enough active DI boxes! Gotta try out some different iron! But I have to say, compared to the original BOM I built with, this is a little less interesting. All of the resistors are the right wattage and fit in the holes properly, but these 1% metal film resistors don't have the colored stripes on them, which in my opinion make a circuit look pretty. They just look like little black blobs.

(and here I thought I wouldn't be using this hashtag anymore!)

  16. Got some more transformers in, today. One Haufe, and two OEP's. Going for some different DI Box flavor.

  17. OK, one last post about the DI's. I've been running all sorts of signals through these things and the sonics are world class. Super happy. I also tested the 1/4 inch output, which I didn't test last night. I just assumed they worked, and now I know they do.

  18. I did this build in two sessions today (the epoxying was done yesterday). Really pleased with these.

This job also reminded me how much I need a proper Dremel. So my birthday's coming up... the Dremel 4300-5/40 would be a great gift idea (wink wink nudge nudge!).

    Exactam eam...

  19. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand they're done, and they work!
