Among them are a number of members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), including Royal Canadian Air Force Major Tristan Armstrong, who apparently left a trail of thousands of posts in far-right forums between 2019-2024. The folks at Decoherence Media have unmasked 32-year-old neo-nazi Jacob Daniel Jones of Olathe, Kansas, leader of the Kansas-based Heartland Active Club and a member of Patriot Front.
For the unfamiliar, active clubs are a decentralized network of neo-nazi recruitment groups (most of them are fronts for either Patriot Front or the Hammerskins) that focus on things like mixed martial arts training and working out amid a constant barrage of antisemitism, racism, xenophobia, and misogyny.
Jones has been involved in neo-nazi/white nationalist circles since at least 2019, given that that's the year he left the now-defunct preppy nazi org Identity Evropa after Unicorn Riot released that group's internal discussion logs. So he's not exactly a kid who was accidentally caught up in this and is still "figuring things out." He's long since figured it out, and he's opted for being a nazi.

They've now been IDed, although it looks like they were generally known figures already, so not a lot of surprises. Still, if you're in that neck of the woods, it seems worthwhile to read up on their bios.
One thing that this article brings out, which hasn't gotten a lot of public attention, is the fact that many "active clubs" serve as recruiting grounds/feeders for the Hammerskins (that is, the ones that aren't feeders for Patriot Front). If you've got a nazi bonehead problem in your area and there isn't already an "active club," there's a good chance there will be one soon.

The white nationalist hate group Patriot Front is trying to boost recruitment by secretly controlling a large swath of the active clubs network, according to audio messages and a leaked document posted to Telegram that Hatewatch verified.
The audio messages and leaked document reveal that Patriot Front is the hidden hand behind about a dozen active clubs across the country. The leaked document, which appears to be an internal report created to update Patriot Front leadership on a new recruitment tactic, refers to these active clubs as “subsidiary recruitment projects.” Other active clubs are referred to as “cooperative” and “highly cooperative.”

Over the last several years, Hatewatch has monitored the close relationship between some active clubs and Patriot Front. The leaked document corroborates Hatewatch’s observations and provides a detailed look at how these relationships reflect Patriot Front’s changing tactics as its brand has faced setbacks. For example, in a Feb. 4, 2024, post to Telegram about an anti-LGBTQ+ rally, an active club chapter refers to being “alongside” Patriot Front at the event. However, the document shows that Patriot Front directly controls the active club chapter that participated, which suggests that Patriot Front organized the rally.
The inclusion of an active clubs chapter to what is essentially a Patriot Front rally raises questions about whether these active club members knew they were being groomed by Patriot Front leadership. It also suggests a new strategy Patriot Front has implemented to compete for recruits as the group faces criticism and suspicion from powerful far-right influencers. Some have claimed the group is full of undercover federal agents or is otherwise collaborating with federal law enforcement — a common accusation in the paranoid world of the organized white power movement.

This is a useful piece on neo-Nazi infiltration of martial arts contests. However, it gives the impression that Ian Elliott is no longer part of Patriot Front. As we and others have pointed out, Elliott remains a high-profile, active PF member. His handle on the Telegram messaging application even provides his alias within that organization, followed by the letters "PF" to indicate his organizational affiliation.

This is a solid analysis of the ways that two of the most prominent neo-fascist groups in the US organize, namely Patriot Front and the Active Club network. Specifically, it looks at the ways they have adapted to the post-Unite the Right environment and their resilience in the face of threats from law enforcement and antifascists.
If you're not familiar with how these groups organize, this would be a very good primer. And if you're already up to speed, I still think this is a good analysis of how they have weathered certain challenges and what organizing problems they still face, in light of the fact that they take very different approaches to organizing.

Failures resulting from the 2017 “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, which included the doxxing of protestors, substantial financial penalties, and increased scrutiny on the white nationalist movement, forced leaders and groups to shift their tactics and organizational structures.
Specific organizational models, like those used by Patriot Front and Active Clubs, have been instrumental in making groups more resilient to disruption from law enforcement and perceived enemies.
Recent arrests of key white nationalist leaders do not appear to have had a significant impact on groups’ operations, which have continued unabated and may indicate that changes at the organizational level are generating some results.

A core component of the Active Club worldview is a narrative of white victimhood and attack from political opponents. These stories help motivate recruits, direct anger and empower members by making them feel like they are taking action. It also justifies violence in return. Messages by ACS make it clear that the capacity for violence is a central element of its organising. In June 2023, Scott Conner challenged members of Proud Boys Scotland on Telegram to a fight and said they would “learn the difference between an active club and a drinking club”.Members of ACS have a history of making violent threats as well as practising martial arts, as have many others in the Active Club network internationally. The Rise Above Movement described itself as the “premier MMA club of the Alt-Right” and the Active Club network has internationally organised MMA tournaments. However, their violence is not limited to the ring. Rundo was convicted for assaulting a police officer at the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017, an event at which the anti-fascist protester Heather Heyer was murdered. Rundo also has a conviction for travelling to political rallies to incite violence in 2018.

Holocaust denial, racist statements about Arab and Muslim people, an inevitable violent uprising, and conspiracy theories around Jewish plots of global control have been typical within Diagolon for years. The more recent shift towards outright white supremacy has seen Vriend making appearances as a guest on other programs linked to international neo-Nazi organizations.

From what I’m told, almost all of those “Active Clubs” that have just been “spontaneously” cropping up around the US are essentially fronts for either the Hammerskins or Patriot Front, which use them for recruiting purposes. This image (posted by @FashFreeNW on the ex-birdsite) isn’t, by itself, slam-dunk proof of that, but it does at least show a connection between the Southern California AC and the Hammerskins – and, I’m told, it annoys the shit out of them when people point it out.
