#Synology #ActiveBackupForBusiness works just fine with this version of #macoOS27 as well.

New #Apple #macOS27 developer beta works fine with #Synology #ActiveBackupForBusiness client. Data backup/restore went with no issues.

That moment when you need to restore 70GB of data due to catastrophic hw failure. #Synology #ActiveBackupForBusiness to the rescue. 🛟

Been testing the #macOS27 for a while today, and indeed it all works as intended for all my most common apps. Also the #10G network issue that happened from time to time is gone and the Mini behaves as it did on 15.7.
Pixelmator Pro, Forklift, Mattermost, Things, and other random apps all work just fine.
Also, with the new LS settings, it doesn't feel like this OS has any Liquid effects if a user chooses so.
★ ★ ★ ★ ★ so far!

So far, all works. In terms of #Synology #ActiveBackupForBusiness, being an Intel-based client, Rosetta 2 is needed. This will be fine for version 27, but will not work with macOS28 in the future when this method will be deprecated.
Also, the corners and UI fixes make this version less cartoony and more like Sequoia.
Still not perfect, depending on the app, but its a question is this a 3rd party implementation issue or a missing "system-wide" tweak

Time to test the new #Synology #ActiveBackupforBusiness 3.2 platform following yesterday rollout, bringing more than a few fixes, as well as a handful of new features

What is the most often situation that you need to restore a file from #backup? For me, accidental changes.
I opened an older file and completely forgot to rename/duplicate it before I started editing. After 2h, I saved the changes under a new file name, but the original was already changed due to autosave.
#Synology #ActiveBackupForBusiness to the rescue! ABB restored the file back onto my scratch drive in seconds.
It's not a question of "if", but "when" will you need it!

It’s always nice to see production data making it safe to the other side with no interruption of services or customer issues.
On to the next migration!

#Synology volume migration continues. Today, about 3TB+ in total of #ActiveBackupForBusiness storage "folders".
Using #SnapshotReplication to do it by the book instead of volume migration. Worked well so far with other ABB storage folders.
True and tested... 🐢

Can't recall last time I needed a #backup restore but I guess working late has its consequences.
Editing files directly from the source is always a bad scenario and I avoid it, hence why I use a scratch drive.
But I managed to overwrite one file from the source by accident.
That feeling when you don't panic because you have a backup and you just say to yourself, "you idiot... -.-"

#Synology #ActiveBackupForBusiness working just fine with the latest #macOS 26.1 #Tahoe beta 4.
The "tinted" fix makes this version much more tolerable, while those corners are still ticking my OCD to high heaven! 🫨

Migrating #Synology #ActiveBackupForBusiness volumes from one #NAS to the other. Time to start using the latest #ABB version, and prepare the old RS machine for decommissioning.

@nfgusedautoparts Another vote for #synology. On top of its support for TM, certain models support their #ActiveBackupForBusiness package that will allow for a great backup alternative in case TM is something you are trying also to move away from.

Testing some more concurrent operations on the new #Synology #DS925+ as part of the upcoming #review
Dual #ActiveBackupForBusiness remote #windows11 machines (testing the #deduplication in the process), along a simple file copy onto an external #USB #SSD #OWC enclosure.
(yes 3rd party external drives work just fine!)
The NAS is nice and calm with no performance issues at all.

#Apple #macos and #ios patch time... The new 15.4.1 version works fine with #Synology #ActiveBackupForBusiness
-
Why does #Synology #ActiveBackupForBusiness has both "restore" and “download" options using the Recovery Portal, but #ActiveProtectManager only has the latter?
Simply asking for “xxxx space" on the device accessing the Recovery portal so that it could be than transferred back to the original location makes no sense.
More over, using the Portal with #M365 content has the option to directly restore content. 🤔.
Also "search=filter” is super misleading. Works with M365 but not the local content.

With #macOS 15.3 beta 3, ABB works again. Testing now with 15.3 release candidate version as well.

Sunday #Apple #macOS #DisasterRecovery testing with #Synology #ActiveBackupForBusiness in progress.

Testing #Synology #ActiveBackupForBusiness bare metal restore. Considering that #Apple #macOS 15.3 doesn't work with #ABB, let's see if reverting it back will sort it out (15.2 still works just fine).
Testing on a new “test" #MacMiniM4Pro.
Should be done in about 20 min.
#Backup via #10G takes less than 8 min to complete, but restore via Migration Assistant is between 30-50 MB/s.

Patching to #macOS 15.3 beta 2, #Sequoia, let’s see if maybe the #ActiveBackupforBusiness issue has been resolved by #apple.
(nothing in the notes, but still)
