Discovered that the brakes on the #AcousticBike - old single-action Shimano 600 sidepulls, with the back one barely working - are better than I thought.
Was barreling happily along the bike trail when I notice a commotion up ahead in the long grass. A redwing blackbird is mobbing some kind of creature scurrying through the grass. Just as I get close, what pops out into the middle of the trail but a 🦨!
Eek! Max anchors, back up away from this aggrieved floof o' doom!

First time out on the new-to-me #AcousticBike
It was left out on the street when a neighbour moved away. It needs some work (rear brake is, uh, nominal and frame has some surface rust) but only needed a tiny tune up to get rolling. It has a flip-flop hub, but I'm no fixie #hipsterrr
It rolls like a dream and wants to go no-hands forever. My old knees aren't wild about the lack of gears. Rim brakes aren't my fave, but they work. Too nice a day to grumble tho

First acoustic MTB ride in a long while. Good to get out of traffic for a spell.
Recent heavy rains have already undercut the new boulder + concrete attempt to shore up the abutments under Istik Bridge over Lemon Creek.
Good to get some organic grime on the old legs, too!
