Dragged myself out for dinner. Had a nice meal in a decent restaurant. Alas getting home is going to be made more complicated than it needs to be. I could get out because of the working escalator. But that only goes up. Unfortunately the return journey is going to require some creative routing to avoid stairs.

Oh hey look! Microsoft #AccessibilityFail 30229! I'm in the Rewards section of my Xbox account on the Xbox itself, not the Web, and every list item (What's New in Rewards, Weekly Console Bonus, Play a Game on Console, Etc.) says the following before it: "Dashboard.Social.ViewModels.RewardsModuleGroup View Model Group!" Because what's basic Screen Reader Testing, anyway?

Oh, the irony! 🤦♂️ An article on 'misuses' that #misuses its own accessibility settings. Well played, digital gatekeepers! 🚫 Enjoy your exclusive club of... no one. 🎉

For the 100th time, the stupid Liquid Glass interface has broken my app experience.
Bugs I've experienced since I woke up:
- Bottom of half of phone screen grayed out after a text entry box failed to clear properly
- Enlarged text on a button in an app displaying on two lines instead of one
- Blank reserved space at the bottom of the screen while viewing web pages (apparently this would be mostly clear if I hadn't needed to make the glass effect opaque because it gives me a headache, but it means the "accessibility" feature is impeding my use of the device)
- Ice Cubes glitches when my phone slips into landscape mode while I'm composing a toot. It gets stuck sideways, cut off and refusing to accept further input until I reboot the app and lose everything I've entered.I thought this was an app problem, but I think I was wrong. It's not an isolated thing. This is an #iOS26 problem and an #Apple problem.
I hope this is why Liquid Glass execs at Apple are stepping down.

Is there a word (or hashtag) for the situation when there's a podcast about disability issues but it has no transcript?
Because I've been seeing a lot of this lately ... 🙄
(Hmm, maybe accessibility fail?)

when @ablade sends you an e-mail to see if It can be read on the computer, and then you have to bust out @AiraVI to read images from an e-mail that you can't even see with your screen reader. #accessibilityFail. #DoBetter.

Dear #WinRAR I've enjoyed your utility for many years. What I'm not enjoying is knowing that there's an #Inaccessible #Captcha in place preventing me from updating the email address at which I receive your newsletter. #AccessibilityFail

@munchkinbear @MamaBraille I just made sure the latest update to #JFW2025 had been applied, I rebooted and still no joy in 2024 or 2025 in any browser. Something is definitely broken somewhere. I can find share item links. I can find select all items or deselect all items but that's it. #Ugly #Unacceptable #AccessibilityFail

Why do people
* Write out a long-arse Open Letter
* Render that Open Letter, which is entirely text, to graphical form
* Screen-shot the rendered graphic
* Post the Open Letter not as readable text, but as a far less-accessible image
* Post a screenshot of that image on a text-primary mediuminstead of
* Post the text of the Open Letter, as entirely accessible text

Curtis's humiliation came from the fact that at his graduation, the ramp to get onto the stage was too steep & #inaccessible for #WheelchairUsers.
Curtis has #EhlersDanlos syndrome, a connective tissue disorder that causes joint dislocations & severe pain, which is why he uses a #wheelchair & has a service animal.

@francescougolini according to our tests, unfortunately, we did not find any alternative to QRcode. it would be a good idea, indeed, to have one and just have the EU login app for sensitive services, per-service. to avoid such constraintsts. #accessibilitytest #accessibility #accessibilityfail #accessibility_concerns #a11y #A11yElders ? #europeanunion #europeancommission

@EU_Commission To register on the Transparency Register in Eurorpe, the @debianFR president @debian needs to use EU login (excluding Fdroid users probably, and person with so old mobile phone), but also he needs to take a snapshot of the qrcode! #europeanunion @juliemoynat @armonyaltinier @kujiu #europeancommission #european_commission #EuropeanCommissionPresident #accessibility #accessibilityfail #accessibility_concerns #a11y #A11yElders #disability #disabilityrights #citizen #citizenship

In a hurry, grabbing a couple of things to throw in my cart before time was up on my Walmart order. Two things are for shipping, arivestoday. What the hell is Arivestoday? Is that some religious holiday celebrated around Christmas time and I have been failing to wish people a happy one? And why do I care if I get them on Arivestoday? Oh! Arives today. Whew! #AccessibilityFail Happy Arivestoday to all!

Google engineers see fit to document their WebP format in the document at https://developers.google.com/speed/webp/docs/riff_container using 18 diagrams
None with alt text 😣
Worse – they’re all drawn in ASCII art 😖
Even worse – they’re semantically marked up as devsite-code, just like the actual code on that page 😫
Google – do you care about accessibility? 🤷♀️
I had just looked up the Google WebP container spec, as I came across another example of an image using this format in the wild and felt I should know what it is
I’m still not entirely clear of its supposed advantages over other image formats
Alas, increased accessibility (e.g. offering embedded image description) isn’t one of those advantages
-
The irony of seeing a screen shot with a little "alt" tag in the corner (meaning there was alt text for the original image, I think?) but there's no alt text for this screen shot of the image.
Not gonna link because it's pretty common and I don't want to call out any single individual.

🙄 Oh, the irony! 🚫 #Reddit finally decides to make itself unusable for blind people, but hey, who needs #accessibility, right? 🤷♀️ Meanwhile, over on Twitter, it's become nothing but an echo chamber for Elon Musk and his wacky buddies. Can't get enough of those grandiose proclamations and eccentric tweets! 🐦🚀 So glad we're prioritizing meaningful conversations and inclusivity in our social media platforms. Not. 😒 #AccessibilityFail #TwitterEchoChamber #PrioritiesOutOfWhack

The official US Eurovision stream is using automatic captioning and its interpretation of non-English is... something. Banana penicillin, indeed.

@ucaccessnow Wow, that's messed up 😔
Is there a #AccessibilityFail hashtag? (if not, there is now!)

It's a damn shame the Diaspora social network site has a barrier to entry for screen reader users right away...the sign up form has a graphic challenge with no audio option. #AccessibilityFail

CW: Twitter killing API
This piece is interesting, but most relevant to me is that it doesn't mention the accessibility bots that will die along with the funny/entertaining/interesting/just plain weird ones.

I totally messed up with accessibility today. I forgot to use captions on the zoom presentation - darnit, I am usually on top of it... I did include them in later sessions, but the important one - DANGIT I just forgot.
Noted for next week's big meeting.

Shopping tonight was pretty tough. The large supermarket had NO employees around to help anyone, anywhere! There were multiple items I needed, but I couldn't reach from my mobility device. Hubby was with me most of the time but at one point I went after one thing in one area while he went after another and what I went after I couldn't reach. Nobody had bothered to move the items forward on the shelves (ANY of them, anywhere!) and so many were totally inaccessible to anyone without a long arm and the physical ability to stand right against shelves and stretch back...thank God for an incredibly polite young man (college age, maybe?) who said, "I can't just walk past when you are obviously struggling, what can I do to help?" and reached the item easily, then handed it to me. YES, Virginia, there are still wonderful young people in the world!

@Jorah Yikes! That sounds like a major, and dangerous, #accessibility #FAIL. ☹
