It's bring your kids to work (Satur)day, aka mommy forgot some critical things at work and must go retrieve on the weekend #academicmamas

Given the nanograv + icecube announcements and the Euclid launch this week, I'm just glad I don't have another baby ready to pop... 😆
(For context, my baby was born on the day of the JWST launch, 3 weeks early, after I watched the launch) #academicmamas

Today I feel defeated. I pushed myself very hard, despite being sick, just to meet an important deadline tomorrow. I somehow managed to to get so so so close, but I won’t make it, because my child is now developing a fever. So no childcare, no submission and no relaxation tomorrow. Instead, it’s going to be another intense day without break and then more work waiting for me during the weekend to catch up. This is not sustainable. Please send good vibes.

#womeninacademia #academicmamas My institution requires all members of a search committee to take a half day workshop hosted by the Office of Institutional Diversity. A workshop was scheduled specifically for a search I'm chairing, but w/o any input from faculty.

It was so predictable.
I blocked a whole week for writing, everything went well, and then my child got sick. Again. I’m so tired of this. 🥴🤮🤒
But also: hooray for having supportive parents-in-law!!! 🥳

How on earth do people concentrate when they face a deadline? My brain just goes bananas and the rest of my body tells me to run away as fast as I can...
Ah, and on top of everything daycare has reduced hours and closes at 12 because too many teaches are sick. This is not working. Aaaah!

I know people got sick of Zoom meetings for all sorts of very good reasons, but wow, it struck me today as I’m staying home with a sick kiddo (again) that it really makes a difference in being able to make career + life happen.
Perhaps it’s a silver lining. #WomenInScience #WomenInSTEM #AcademicChatter #academicmamas
