I reached the rank of Asst. Prof in Tenure Run! 🎓
I published 22 papers and paid $12,500 in APCs to publishers. My grant money is gone and I am exhausted. 💸
How far can you make it? Play now at https://forrt.org/TenureRun/

My best rank yet, once I realized the fancy p = p-hacking… and that it was speeding me up too much. 😅 -

I used "log in with Web of Science" to access Manuscript Central. Then I used "log in with ORCID" to access Web of Science… and got instantly logged back into Manuscript Central.
Did I log in with:

B) ORCID

Dear Journal editors sending a request to review a paper on Dec 26, a reminder on Dec 28, and a second one (called "final reminder") on Jan 2: don't. #AcademicChat

The postbac I am mentoring has thus far applied to a 18 PhD programs (a reasonable precaution right now), 13 of which have fees for a total cost of $1,001 (AVG = 77±20, max=105, min=30). I know the numbers because, as part of the position, I committed to paying these fees out of unrestricted funds. It's a good thing, too, because as a 1st gen student, this many applications would be totally unaffordable.

How many of the "manuscripts in preparation" listed on CVs are anywhere near a drafting stage, let alone likely to actually ever be submitted? Does anyone actually take anything written in this section at all seriously? I feel like mostly it undercuts whatever other work the person has done.

@clairemajor welcome aboard! Follow, follow, follow! And check out tags. You might like #bookstodon as well as #scifi, #AcademicChat as well as #HigherEd, and if you’re interested some of the visual themes you might include #mosstodon, #FensterFreitag, #Bloomscrolling, #SilentSunday, or #sunrise. I also enjoy #HashTagGames. Enjoy!

It looks like there is an agreement between the Uni of Exeter and
the Université Paris-Saclay to collaborate on a number of topics.
Who do I know at Paris-Saclay who is interested in doing something together? 😃

I'm sure this has been proposed before, but I would really love it if, when I accepted a request to review a paper, that provided me with access to the cited papers. Especially when they are from the journal or publisher I'm reviewing for...

Hey researchers, I'm looking for examples of #OpenResearch practices that you employ that directly benefit _you_.
I.e. things that work towards open science, but also benefit you directly (save you time/effort/money perhaps). -
