The #Academany uses a distributed learning model where students work together in local #fablab while connecting globally with experts, originally developed through #FabAcademy for hands-on technical training. #FabFutures extends this to vocational education, monthly one-month modules in various skills that lead to introductory certificates, which can be combined into a one-year diploma without requiring a predetermined career path.

We prototype a new educational program in the #fablab network!
Fab Futures teaches 21st century vocational skills. It is a part of The #Academany, the fab lab network's distributed hands-on educational program.
It grew from the #FabAcademy, developed to provide hands-on technical training in fab labs.
1st class on Data Science: Over four weeks, participants learn how to collect, organize, and analyze datasets using interactive notebooks and open-source tools.

Fab Academy is part of #Academany which is pretty interesting as a new global kind of education. Labs on all the continents working through the same course, meeting weekly. Diversity in people, problems, and design. United nations of maker spaces, community colleges, folk schools, universities....
