Fair to report the AQHI as given by Environment Canada but it is a terrible index in my opinion. I use AQI since it does not top out. This business of going 10 and then 10+ means anything even worse always just stays at 10+.Said my 3 cents Canadian.

However, in the city there are two station which perhaps need some calibration. They were at 3 and 2 earlier. Now, they have made it up to 15 and 14. The ONLY two stations down there in the green.
Reading 14 now when you can see the haze of smoke against the houses across the street is laughable. Perhaps they think they can push the average down doing this. A Q test would toss these data points out.

The smoke just seemed to get stronger so checked my AQI app. Sure enough.
My closest station reads 162. I have seen higher but still unhealthy.

Is there an active fire in Calgary or something? I’m looking at PurpleAir, and the air is catastrophically bad in the city and very quickly getting worse, but I can’t tell where the smoke is coming from. Nowhere near the city is anywhere close to this bad. Normally you can see where the wind is blowing it from an active fires(s). #YYC #ABWildfires #wildfire #AirQuality

“Hazy” is the new “mild.” 💨 🦠 But it’s actually a pretty good article. The only thing that would be better is to mention the cumulative effects of wildfire smoke on *everyone* and that the 10+ AQHI measure now has limited usefulness. It appears there are two air ambulances on the way into Jasper, CWA924 from Grande Prairie and CWA935 from Edmonton.
Assuming they're coming in to help evacuate the hospital.

Alberta has 147 active wildfires but only 54 are out of control.
I know ... that sounds like 1/3 because it basically is.
There are only 3 evacuation advisories. Minor really -- unless your life is caught up in one of them.
Almost this entire area is expecting no rain and temperatures over 30 C for the next 5 days. If you are not swearing, you are the type who could not predict a child will cry when they break an arm.

Update for today.
Alberta has 130 active wild fires now. I pulled the numbers for my graph about an hour ago and it was 128 then.Also, there are 52 Out of Control now.
I added their graph for 'Five Year Wildfire Comparison by Current Date' to show in terms of COUNT we are about the same as several recent years. I consider this a kind of rho-gains type graph as simply counting is not helpful really.#ABWildFires

Redone graph including non-fires right now. They have 670 Extinguished fires which tends to really push down the graph of actual fires at present. Since these are not active, I am choosing to add fires yet to be seen. I estimate them at a few thousand. It is a bitter joke to make the extinguished fires seem visually small.

The province shows 549 Extinguished fires. I do not. I do thank the various crews for putting those out. I added 'Yet to Start' as those are not fires now either.For reasons, there are actually 72 active wildfires. In good news, all these fires have been very small and so the total area burned is still small.

Good news but perhaps more hopeful thinking than good planning. All evacuation orders and alerts are over. Yet, the fire itself is still considered out of control and close to the city.
