    At the time of his death he wore a shirt bearing the phrase "Soul of my Soul" which is how he referred to his granddaughter as he hugged and kissed her lifeless body one last time.

    The undying love of this grandfather for his grandchild captivated the world and raised hopes for westerners to urge restraint towards Palestinian civilians.

    It's an indictment of western culture that we could a year later watch our governments support killing this devoted man.

    RIP Sheikh Khaled Nabhan(aka Abu Diaa)

    The Palestinian grandfather's poetic farewell to his martyred granddaughter Reem in the opening stages of the latest genocide on Gaza went viral in the earliest days of the conflict has himself been martyred by an artillery strike into a refuge camp.
