Ah, the "hidden" costs of #abstractions, because apparently, no one ever realized that making things easier could come with a downside...🤦♂️ Welcome to the world of #computing, where "focusing on the bigger picture" is just code for "forgetting how stuff actually works"—but hey, at least we have more #memory now to store all that ignorance! 🧠💾

I like the feeling of buying and owning great products — especially #software.
*Renting* software, on the other hand, does not give me the same warm fuzzies.
In the following episode of the #Abstractions #podcast, at about the 18:47 mark, I explain why I eschew software rental, and I also describe alternative pricing structures that provide much better alignment of interests between software vendors and end users.

We kick off the latest episode of the #Abstractions #podcast with an introduction to a great article by @judy2k about reinforcing #terminal command-line tool habits. We also delve into gaslight-driven development at SoundSlice, whereby @adrian and fellow developers decided to implement a feature that ChatGPT confabulated. We hope you enjoy the show! 🎧

Buffer Overrun. I have absorbed enough #PlugData info for now. Deep in the iterative place of #Abstractions vs #SubPatches - could this lead to a more efficient delivery of my #ShermanikFilterbank ? Possibly.

“The Humane ‘AI’ Pin is a $700 piece of junk that was supposed to be an ‘AI assistant’ but instead barely worked, was perhaps a fire hazard, and whose main functionality was triggering fragile venture capitalists on Twitter who self-immolated when the reviews were understandably very bad.” 😂

[#Abstractions Episode 10] « Under discreet surveillance »
The sounds they emit are inaudible to us
and their visibility masked from mid-day onwards.Yet azaleas are constantly probing their surroundings. Discretely.
The calyx of each flower is in fact the receptacle
of the multiple visual and sound information
collected by their stamens and pistils. As evidenced by their respective shapes...

#podcast #rewrite #coding #abstractions

[#Abstractions - Episode 6] Entering the light
In this mid-February, the duration and intensity of sunshine
are favorable to the formation and blossoming of the first buds.
Very welcome splashes of colors in a still wintry landscape.
Concentrates of vitality however particularly vulnerable to possible frosts. -

[#Abstractions - Episode 5] Immortals
https://www.culturediff.org/english/ocabstract5.htmInvisible in summer, they bloom as early as autumn

[#Abstractions - Episode 4] L'hiver en été
https://www.culturediff.org/ocabstract4.htmC'est un paysage hivernal qu'illumine le Soleil d'été.
Un paysage en noir et blanc causé par un trop faible ensoleillement.

[#Abstractions - Episode 3]
The world after ...
https://www.culturediff.org/english/ocabstract3.htmA landscape devoid of radiance, devoid of life,
that the sun's rays are unable to color or animate, since
reflected by the aerosols that saturate our atmosphere.
A tragic consequence of our immoderate « love » for fossil fuels ... -
[#Abstractions - Episode 2] #CO2 stripes
From the #earth, they slowly stretch towards the #sky, absorbing, through their growth and throughout their existence, part of our #fossil carbon dioxide #emissions trapped in the #atmosphere. So many natural #carbon #sinks that we need to preserve in order to mitigate #climate #change

[#Abstractions - Episode 1] Abstract #photography offers the possibility of observing #nature, the surrounding #landscapes, from a new perspective, under a different light - while mastering its #CarbonImpact.
The result is a new series called “Abstractions”. Ultimately, it will be made up of numerous shots taken in familiar locations - less than 15 km from the city of #Revel (Occitanie region, France): https://www.culturediff.org/english/ocabstract1.htm
