I try desperately to not succumb to #ScandalFatigue, but it's impossible. 😞

Something I heard on the radio this morning made me think:

"What happened to all those people who were crammed into undersized Detention Centers or deported to a Maximum Security Torture Center in El Salvador?"

Are they still there? The Media seems to have lost interest after #AbregoGarcia was brought home.

  2. Sadly, the #TrumpAdmin is still pushing hard to deport #AbregoGarcia, even to a third-party country that he has no ties to and knows nothing about (in Africa, for example).

Still, it's nice to see that the judge dismissed the ridiculous case against him.

  3. Judge Crenshaw wrote:

    "Then-Attorney General Robert H.
Jackson warned his fellow prosecutors long ago of the danger of picking the person first and the crime second. Therein is the most dangerous power of the prosecutor: that he will pick people that he thinks he should get, rather than pick cases that need to be prosecuted. That is the situation here."

  4. Judge Dismisses Criminal
    Case Against Abrego Garcia ‼️

"The move deals an embarrassing blow to the Trump administration, which made the Maryland man, Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, the face of its deportation campaign."

  6. Then-candidate Donald Trump famously remarked two weeks before the Iowa caucuses in 2016 that he could
"stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody"
and he "wouldn't lose any voters."

Last year, Trump's lawyer suggested in federal court that a president could order SEAL Team Six to assassinate a political rival and — unless he was impeached and convicted by Congress — be immune from criminal prosecution

Increasingly, Trump's violent phantasies have been playing out at home and abroad

  8. Jay Kuo provides a list of ten reasons to be hopeful that Trump and MAGA are on the ropes as a new year begins:

    1. DOGE went down in disgrace.

    2. Abrego Garcia was freed, with the DOJ itself now facing accountability.

    3. Trump’s federal troop deployment was kneecapped.

    4. Censorship and persecution of Trump’s enemies are failing.

  9. "I’ve never seen a case where the government made representations to a judge that were refuted by its own internal communications. It’s exceptionally unusual for prosecutors to have to take the witness stand to defend their own conduct. But Abrego Garcia’s case, which has been highly irregular from the start, may well be the one where that happens."

  10. #AbregoGarcia

"Ahead of Abrego Garcia's criminal trial that is scheduled to begin next year, the Trump administration has repeatedly sought to deport him from the U.S. again, proposing to send him to countries including Uganda, Eswatini and now, Liberia.

The Trump administration is urging Xinis to lift her August order barring Abrego Garcia's deportation and allow the government to remove him to Liberia, arguing that the administration has gone through all the necessary steps to deport Abrego Garcia.

The Justice Department said that Abrego Garcia, who remains in federal immigration detention, was interviewed in October by a U.S. government asylum officer, and that officer determined that he failed to prove he would face persecution or torture in Liberia. The Justice Department said any additional due process would be unwarranted."

  11. “government seems to be switching arguments at will to try to lengthen his detainment, resulting in a “totally inconsistent” case. You’re not even close,” the judge told administration lawyers at one point during the six-hour session. “We’re getting to ‘three strikes and you’re out.’” #AbregoGarcia

  12. The #Trump admin is arguing that a previous court ruling ruling that determined that Abrego Garcia could not be sent back to El Salvador (for his safety) "will no longer be valid" if his asylum case moves forward.

They will, therefore, attempt to send him back to El Salvador anyway (dismissing the court’s ruling).

Trump Slapped With Emergency Filing #AbregoGarcia #lawyers say #Trump officials—including #PamBondi, #KristiNoem, and Trump himself—are smearing him with false, #inflammatory claims that taint the jury pool and violate court rules. 14. #KilmarAbregoGarcia detained by #ICE during Baltimore check-in

    from #NPR #NationalPublicRadio [USA]
    August 25, 2025 915am ET

#AbregoGarcia on Monday filed a lawsuit challenging his current detention and any deportation to Uganda or any other country until a trial is held at an immigration court.

In a statement after his detention, Kristi Noem, the secretary of the #US #DHS, said he is being processed "for removal to Uganda."

At the core of Abrego Garcia's case is the question of due process under President #Trump's aggressive crackdown on undocumented immigrants in the US. The man was arrested in March and sent to a notorious prison in #ElSalvador despite a 2019 court order barring his #deportation to the Central American country because of the "well-founded fear" of gang persecution there. The Trump administration conceded his removal was an "administrative error" and returned him to the US in June to face criminal charges.
