Introducing the 2026 Alberta referendum special ballot book. Just got this in the post and wanted you to see why I think the queues on voting day are going to be monstrous. These are books. And the questions are wordy. It's gonna take more than the usual 1 min to vote.

Word of caution: voting with a special ballot will take some extra steps beyond just filling in your answers. You'll have to photocopy your photo ID and include that in there so be prepared to spend a bit of time. Still. I predict it'll be less time and less annoying than waiting in a queue, hoping your boss doesn't fire you for taking a three hour long lunch break. 🙃

Take 2 minutes and save yourself the headache of the long queues. I just got my ballot in the mail and, friends, I'm not kidding: it's a book!! This isn't going to be like other elections. I predict very long queues. Pass on the word to make sure that everyone votes. ⚠️

Albertans! Apply for a special ballot for the Oct 19 referendum so you don't have to stand in line. Deadline is October 9 but do it now so you don't forget.

It took me <2 minutes. Commit to voting as if your country depends on it because it does.

You can now request a mail-in ballot for the October referendum. Any eligible voter can vote by mail, and you don't have to explain why. You can also vote in an advance poll in your riding October 13-17. Highly adviseable as voting day will probably be very chaotic.

I will be looking especially at the original nine questions, which constitute Danielle Smith's sovereignist agenda, and are IMO more dangerous than the question on independence, which is probably doomed to fail.
