Ukraine is withdrawing Abrams tanks from the front due to the threat of Russian drones. In January 2023, Ukraine received 31 Abrams tanks from the US, valued at around $10 million each, of which 5 have been lost. The tanks were used to break through enemy defenses. US and Ukrainian military are now considering how to use the tanks in the new situation. #Ukraine #AbramsTanks

(interesting observation) Firstly, Abrams tanks are difficult to maintain. Secondly, you need properly trained tank crews. They don't have the time to train on these tanks. And just because you can drive it out of a car park doesn't mean you know how to operate it in combat conditions.
But more importantly, they've had almost five months of experience trying to get close to the Russian positions, and the Russians are blowing up every tank that gets close to those lines. Not a single tank has got through. So with the advent of modern intelligence and surveillance, tanks seem to be becoming an irrelevant weapon. The Germans sent tanks which had not been maintained properly. -
The #UnitedStates says it will begin training Ukrainian forces how to use #AbramsTanks in the coming weeks. Defense officials from around the world are meeting at Ramstein Air Base in #Germany in the ongoing effort to coordinate delivery of weapons to #Ukraine.
