#about-me — Public Fediverse posts

The last couple days have been...a time for me.

Hello fine people of Mastodon!

I'm Frank: a soil ecologist, popular-science author, nature macrophotographer, university lecturer and science communicator (and exhausterwhelmed new father). Through my research and outreach, I'm determined to raise awareness of the tiny organisms that keep our soils (and our world) working!

Make sure you've tapped the follow button if you want to learn more about:

✨ A Little (About) Joy ✨

One of my first jobs was working at my uncle's Renaissance Faire catapult booth! I made $32/day including lunch and have the best memories of those summers. It was an early lesson in spreading joy!

What was your first job?

Reading, Watching & Relaxing

For the past couple of weeks, I took a writing break to catch up on some other projects, reading, and series that I have been wanting to finish. I am not really a week notes kind of person, but if you have wondered where I have been; here's your answer.

My mood can vacilliate wildly between 'socializing can be fun and rewarding' and 'do not perceive me' and where it stops at any given time even I cannot know.

✨ A Little (About) Joy ✨

I was a super happy kid, definitely lived up to my name! As an adult, I've been channeling that childhood happiness and spreading it in my art, with a mission to spark JOY!

What is a favorite happy childhood memory of yours?

I am beyond honored and excited to share that I was featured this week in Jessica’s beautiful “Talent Spotlight Showcase” series on Substack ❤️

In the article, we talk about:
✨ my journey with Hebrew
✨ what drives me to teach
✨ Israeli culture and language
✨ creativity and connection
✨ and the heart behind Hebrew By Inbal

Jessica has created such a thoughtful and uplifting space for creators and I am so grateful she chose to shine a light on my work this week.

I would absolutely love for you to read it and get to know me a little more beyond the lessons and videos 😊

Hi folks; I'm just some guy on the internet, making bad jokes and occasionally posting about my sportsball teams and their woes. I like to talk video games too, especially Mega Man and Castlevania. And I'll be boosting and sharing mutual aid posts a lot; people need help out here, and the more their posts are shared the greater chance of them being seen by people who can help.

I'm Clover! welcome to my little corner 🐾✨

hewwo fweinds! :3 i'm a weird and silli creature who'll randomly rant, post art, and probably drag you into my hyperfixations at some point :P
🎨 i make art - mostly pixel art, mostly furry. pretty embedded in the furry community so expect a lot of that energy around here :3
✍️ i write things too - poetry, AO3 original works, the occasional (cringe) fic, etc.
🎵 i also make music - producer, writer, and singer hehe
🎮 games-wise i live in Minecraft and VRChat. send help

a little more about me:

i'm a transfem genderdoe, animal-hearted canine cladokith, and demipansexual 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈 - i may talk about therian/otherkin stuff and queer identity here and there!
i'm also a Christian, and my faith shapes a lot of how i think and create. don't be surprised if theology sneaks into my posts or my art sometimes ✝️
i'm already pretty familiar with the fediverse (came from tumblr too so i'll be fine lol) and i hope to make new friends fast :3
my username everywhere is LuminaStrike - not to be confused with LuminaStriker, we're different people!!
glad you're here 🐶💕

Some fun from over on Substack, some games I've enjoyed in life and hot takes to be sure...

I need to get back into the habit of writing any longer posts or replies in a text editor rather that trusting social media not to glitch out and lose them lol.

Goblin.band on mobile seems especially prone to losing posts and replies, at least for me, but really this is a problem with social media in general.

Things that I think are bullshit
• Bluesky won't let me edit posts
• the US President is a Crypto-bro Fascist pedofile
• DRM Exists

Anyway follow me for things i hate

#aboutme #bsky #thingsihate

There are many things I'm just not going to be very good for. Optimally, these things will be done by someone besides me. But if I have to do them, I will try to do the best I can. It would be best if I was not the one doing those things, though.

The funny thing is, there's a lot of things that it may superficially seem like I am good at.

The problem is, for a lot of those things, I am not actually very good at them at all.

Like writing. Yes, I have a good command of grammar and spelling. Yes, I know how to construct essays. Yes, I can write long things (just look at the word count on my fanfic)! I am even capable of making writing easier to understand and more enjoyable to read. Can I just do all these things at will, whenever I want? No. Can I combine all these things together to write amazing and moving nonfiction? Also no.
