I need to get back into the habit of writing any longer posts or replies in a text editor rather that trusting social media not to glitch out and lose them lol.

Goblin.band on mobile seems especially prone to losing posts and replies, at least for me, but really this is a problem with social media in general.

Ich bin eine evangelikale Christin mit etwas Pfingstlerin als Beimischung (genug, um gelegentlich und dann meist ungeplant in Sprachen zu beten).

Konkret ordne ich mich irgendwo zwischen linksevangelikal und post-evangelikal ein, ähnlich den aus den USA stammenden Red Letter Christians oder den Sojourners.

Dementsprechend links, feministisch, progressiv, queer-freundlich, antifaschistisch, für soziale Gerechtigkeit, Bewahrung der Schöpfung und Ökumene.

Getauft als junge Erwachsene Mitte der 80er Jahre in einer afrodeutschen Pfingstgemeinde, was meine geistliche Biographie nachhaltig geprägt hat.

Heute Baptistin, weil mich der Baptismus am ehesten da abholt, wo ich geistlich stehe. Mitglied einer progressiven Baptistengemeinde.

There are many things I'm just not going to be very good for. Optimally, these things will be done by someone besides me. But if I have to do them, I will try to do the best I can. It would be best if I was not the one doing those things, though.

The funny thing is, there's a lot of things that it may superficially seem like I am good at.

The problem is, for a lot of those things, I am not actually very good at them at all.

Like writing. Yes, I have a good command of grammar and spelling. Yes, I know how to construct essays. Yes, I can write long things (just look at the word count on my fanfic)! I am even capable of making writing easier to understand and more enjoyable to read. Can I just do all these things at will, whenever I want? No. Can I combine all these things together to write amazing and moving nonfiction? Also no.

Das schließt schon mal unglaublich viel Mist aus. Dafür irgendwie dankbar.

Umgekehrt versuche ich das zu geben, was ich mir teils selbst wünsche. Was Anderen gut tut. Weil ich es wichtig & wertvoll finde, besonders für einige Wenige, bei denen ich kann & wenn ich kann.
Das macht mich sicher nicht unfehlbar & verbocke auch mal was, aber iwie passt das gut:

One big problem I have with the internet and time management is I will think of a question like "what is the average lifespan of a koala" and then I will look that up and then I will see something on the page with the answer that will prompt another question like "when did koalas evolve" and then it just becomes an infinite koala climb of questions and answers that prompt more questions.

And then I contemplate getting a PhD in koala, but it won't pay the bills.

I draw characters for fun and profit and, as of 2 years ago a self taught digital sculptor of toys (thanks @MountainTownToys ) I see the world is on fire and I usually try to block it out by making happy stuff.

I love old design (tech and cartoons) vintage radio shows, comic books and I love seeing people be creative. ...also SLOTHS and small dogs.

I find fiction a very worthwhile experience. However. I cannot think of a single piece of media I don't have deep issues with, and I'd probably be called a hater for actually enumerating the issues I have with it. 

This means that whenever someone talks about a piece of media as if it is perfection with no problems, I instantly know that talking to them about that media will be an exercise in walking on eggshells, should I choose to do that.

Yes, even that one.

Especially that one.

I definitely only expect to get along with a limited number of people since that's just the nature of people, that we don't all get along with each other, and also I am not optimized for getting along with others anyway. 

Still, I think I'm rather friendly considering I could get most if not all my socialization needs met as a forest hermit. I don't need to socialize  for the most part, and I find it rather difficult, but I nevertheless still enjoy talking to people and find it very worthwhile.

I haven't been on an airplane in a long time but I used to travel on them a fair amount when I was younger and I never understood being bored on airplanes. Tired, sure; all that time sitting in a metal tin can filled with pressurized recycled air, makes sense it would tend to make people tired, but I would just fall asleep if I got tired so...boredom problem solved.

So surely boredom can't actually be the primary complaint about plane flights? It must be something else. Perhaps pain or discomfort? Or anxiety? Maybe the small size of the seats and inadequate legroom? Maybe having the type of acrophobia that makes one afraid of flying? I actually do have acrophobia, but it seems to primarily be set off in an open air context--I'd only worry about my plane crashing if it was experiencing severe turbulence or if I had reason to believe it was already in danger of crashing. Which is maybe another reason I would never get bored on flights. I love looking out the window. Plane rides have the ultimate view.

But even if I couldn't look out the window, I could still read or take something else to occupy me. And failing any of that, I could daydream.

So am I just the weirdo for thinking plane flights are fun and other people really do find them boring, or is the dislike of plane flights (and maybe the boredom too) actually caused by discomfort or anxiety as I theorize above?

One of my first jobs was working at my uncle's Renaissance Faire catapult booth! I made $32/day including lunch and have the best memories of those summers. It was an early lesson in spreading joy!
