380 Geflüchtete im Mittelmeer verschollen #FortressEurope
‚Mindestens neun Boote mit 380 Geflüchteten werden derzeit auf der Fluchtroute zwischen Tunesien und Italien vermisst. Nachdem dort ein schweres Unwetter wütete, schwindet die Hoffnung auf Überlebende.
Der bisher einzige überlebende Mann aus Sierra Leone berichtete, dass sie die Flucht gerade wegen des Unwetters auf sich genommen hatten, da die Küstenwache im Hafen geblieben war.
Die Abschottungspolitik durch #Frontex und teils illegale oder tödliche #Pushbacks der Küstenwachen, zwingt die Geflüchteten zu immer risikoreicheren Fluchtaktionen. Laut der IOM sind allein zwischen 2014 und 2025 über 33.000 Menschen auf der Mittelmeerroute gestorben oder gelten als vermisst. Sie gilt somit als eine der gefährlichsten Fluchtrouten weltweit.
Erst im November sickerte durch, dass die EU für 2026 plant, die Reserve von Frontex auf 30.000 Beamt:innen zu vergrößern und eine "Quick Reaction Force" zu etablieren. Dadurch könnte die Route noch gefährlicher für Flüchtende werden.‘ (Bei Jugendinfo geklaut)
