  7. The Monastery of Christ in the Desert was founded in 1964 by Fr. Aelred Wall, accompanied by monks of Mount Saviour Monastery in New York. In 1996, it became an autonomous Abbey. The monks maintain a guesthouse for private retreats where visitors can share the peace and tranquility of the Rio Chama canyon.

  9. Poshuouinge was built on a high mesa around 1400. The site is about 150-feet above the Chama River. There are two springs located about 500 feet south of the ruins. Archaeologists believe they were the main water sources for the habitation.
