ABC Australia management screwed up. This is not surprising given the calibre, and political biases, of the current incumbents.
The court finding is not surprising. What is surprising is that the ABC has not been brought back to its charter sooner, given its obvious bias in its broadcasts.
Time will tell if the ABC can recover its quality and reputation. One can only live in hope.
It is an important institution and when it operates properly benefits all Australians.

Why do news organisations - and most especially the (Australian) ABC - stay on X and Facebook? Anyone can find them there to pass on information, and I can see that might be a valid reason - in fact for any social media, even something as toxic as Truth Social. But only to use it as a source. For a news organisation to mix in, to actively participate, to communicate using those avenues, seems reprehensible given the nature of some of those bodies. Content creates attention, and attention is the lifeblood of X or Facebook, so while passively listening is one thing, actively contributing is implicit support.
With the honorable exception of Mastodon, I don't think the ABC should be giving that implied support to X, Facebook and their ilk.
Pretty sure this is not a very original position, but still.

Do not redefine #genocide.
I'll give you a hand: In the ninth ed. Macquarie, it is on page 649 between Genoa cake and Genoese. This word is not fuzzy. The actions of #Israel (and the planned actions of the #USA, announced by their President) are very clearly genocidal. As an organisation who's profession is words, you should be confidently using them in the manner the dictionary documents, then standing firmly behind the battlement of the definition.
(It is worth looking up the writings of the brilliant Raphael #Lemkin too - particularly the bit about preventing the 'rise of future Hitlers'. Maybe it is time for a Background Briefing about the word.)
