Hiding in plain sight on the grounds of an active hospital, this abandoned auditorium stands as a curious relic of the site's past. The only outward clues to its existence are a modest door sign and a striking green oxidised copper dome. Features that are seemingly out of place among the surrounding modern medical blocks.

An old abandoned government building, somewhere in the USA. Built in the 1920s, in a Classical Revival architecture style. Abandoned since the 1990s.

Auditorium inside an abandoned elementary school that closed down more than a decade ago. The reason? Declining population of the surrounding area. Somewhere in the USA

⛪🩵 The Blue Church stands in a waterfront neighbourhood with an attached schoolhouse. Somewhere on the east coast of the United States 🇺🇸
German settlers founded the parish in the late 1800s, and the church served the area for nearly 120 years. The buildings are now sold and will be converted into commercial and residential use.

🇺🇸Throw back to my #USA roadtrip back in 2018. This old abandoned drug store,, with its faded vintage signage and green paint job.
This one gave me serious #Fallout vibes! I made this little collection of photos of #AbandonedPlaces which have a similar aesthetic. Have a nice browse on your coffee break (also includes an appropriate #Spotify playlist to accompany your scrolling) - https://www.obsidianurbexphotography.com/blog/wasteland-wanderer-exploring-abandoned-places-with-a-fallout-vibe/

@AbandonedAmerica it really struck home for me as well. All the talk coming from the right about putting the #unhoused and #IDD (Intellectual and developmental disabilities - thank you for the updated terminology too) in places like this again.
It didn't work out great the first time, I highly doubt they would put any care or humanity into it with another go round.
We forget too quickly. Keep up the good work!

When I first tried to watch Florida Project I felt like Hollywood had simply exploited the worst of central Florida stereotypes. Since I've lived in the shadow of Disney, a different part of town, a kind of Abandoned America on parts of the Orange Blossom Trail, historically known for its vice, I'm seeing through different eyes. I love the film's portrayal of the scrappy kids. It rings true in my immediate environment.

Stopped by an abandoned ballistic missile site, located in the middle of a Montana prairie. Very Machu Picchu.

listening to @AbandonedAmerica podcasts while doing serious "houseguest is coming Sunday" cleaning.
Thank you Matthew Christopher for holding my attention while I'm cleaning bathrooms (incl cat litter boxes) & polishing silver (yes, some of us still polish the silver).
I especially loved the one on the Fallside Hotel as I was in the NY side of Niagara Falls last November. A lot to talk / think about!

@matthewsweet My dad took me to the first film I ever saw, Journey to the Centre of the Earth (1959). You could stay in the cinema then, so I made him watch it 3 times. Hope he enjoyed it as much as I did. I credit that film with my love of ruins and secret, abandoned places.
This is the cinema, in Chertsey, Surrey, though I'm not sure if it's the right date.
