@dramypsyd @actuallyautistic #StopTheShock & #ABAIsAbuse were very prominent & railed against in the autistic community over on X-itter when I was there. We really do need to keep this pressure on.
These abusive monsters have managed to get ABA labelled as, "The Gold Standard for Autism treatment" I shit you not.
Studying autism for my master's we were introduced to ABA by some vicious little sociopath who clearly hated autistic people.
I was the only autistic there & I was the only one who raised an issue & challenged it. Every other student had autistic kids & they didn't bat an eyelid.
Call it out. Get pissed off. Shame every practitioner & apologist.

As an #ActuallyAutistic subjected to a mere fraction of the abuse ABA unleashes upon vulnerable #autistic children, I need to yell into the Fediverse: ABA IS NOT "fixing" your ASD child, it is RUTHLESSLY stripping them of their agency and extinguishing behaviors which are as natural, and vital, to a ND individual as breathing! #abaIsAbuse

Everyday I’m doodling … 🖍
And while I do love drawing, doodling is actually one of my stims (autistic self stimulation). And if you see me do it, know that it keeps me focused during meetings (looking at my old doodles also triggers my memory on what said during a meeting).
This little octopus 🐙 I doodled yesterday during a queer 🏳️🌈 network meeting at work (though I only coloured it in after I got home).
