  1. In eye doc waiting room, 2 of 4...I skimmed several unsatisfactory articles in #aarp magazine...short one doesn't answer its own subtitle re saving digital photos. Long one on heat and the elderly doesn't say what could be done to address climate change! Or what causes it. Grrrrrr

  2. Pardon me, but WTF? Will this bombardment of email and snail mail from these people never end?

I signed up to #AARP for the discounts. Now leave me alone!

And here's a question for my fellow oldies: do you actually want to see shit like this in your email inbox?

  3. AARP membership doesn't appear to be an exclusive club. They've been 'recruiting' me since I was in my 40's. I think they need us more than we need them.

Now, they're advertising a 5-year membership for $11 per year. How could they possibly stay profitable while providing their litany of benefits for such a low price? Maybe it's because their customers are actually the product?

Something about AARP always seemed kinda fishy to me. The passage of time has not changed that stance.

  4. Black is a slimming color.

Mrs Miasma and I just joined a subversive organization.

I'm a little disappointed AARP doesn't sell the kind of branded merch we currently need here in America but the travel discounts are nice.

  5. It's been a while since I've gotten a love letter from #AARP. Was hoping they'd forgotten about me. GUESS NOT.

    Jerks.

also, welcome to your subscription to #aarp. Your appointment for your colonoscopy is scheduled for 5.2 weeks from today. Here is the the link to instructions for your prep day :

  7. #TechIsShitDispatch
Either #AARP recently had a security incident and therefore reset everybody's passwords without admitting it, or they periodically reset people's passwords without telling them, or they're just incompetent, because I just had to reset my password, which is stored in a password manager, so I know I was typing it correctly, but the site wouldn't accept it. #infosec (1/4)

  8. @thordis
Graph from #AARP of #USA population by generation, along with years included within each generation.

  9. @Seilenos I have an #AARP card and have *never* seen a single person “apologize for being white”. Not even #ChevyChase. 😂

    Is #JDVance snorting #ConspiracyTheories at the #TurningPointUSA #grift fest?

  10. #AARP could have been named Jurassic Perks.

  11. #protip remember whether your registered club members followed the link to download your mobile app, so you don't have to annoy them with yet another useless request.

    Looking at you, #AARP.

  12. #protip if you ask a club member for their phone number so you can send it text messages, don't start out with random unknown errors that have no meaning when the messages itself do get delivered.

    Looking at you, #AARP.

    #usability #accessibility

  13. #protip if you ask an existing club member whose phone number already is on file, don't ask them to repeat it when signing up for a service. You have it: fill it in already.

    Looking at you, #AARP.

    #usability #accessibility

  14. #protip if you email a member of your existing program the request to log in, and give them a link, don't ask them for their email address. You already know it. Add it to the link.

    Looking at you, #AARP.

Since the Bio field has such a short character limit, consider this to be my profile/biography.
I don't write about American politics, race, anticapitalism, world affairs (wars, poverty, oppression, etc.), loneliness, bad self-esteem, or anxiety/depression, and will not add those who do so often. The same is true of those who feel it necessary to use obscenities. I am not a modern programmer or gamer, I do not use Linux, and I don't care what social network you use.

Hello. For the sake of honesty, Georgiana Brummell is not my legal name, but it is what I use online. I live in New Jersey and am forty-two years old. Some of my interests include studying dandyism, nineteenth-century English grammar, Upper Received Pronunciation, the Italian language, the Regency, opera, and MS-DOS. I like coffee, tea, wine, cooking, British literature, nature and historical documentaries, gardening, cats, hot weather, and playing cards and dice. I love opera (particularly singers from the early 1900's through the 1950's), classical music (from Baroque through early Romantic), and popular music (from the 1950's through the 1970's). I prefer antique menswear and accessories. I love wit, wordplay, and dry humour without vulgarity. I am a happily childfree atheist. I love cats. I have been totally blind since I was two months old, due to Retinopathy of Prematurity. I am single and prefer men over sixty, though more so over seventy.

If you're on MSN via Escargot, I am [email protected]. I am also the administrator of the OldOpera and BlindAndFine, subreddits

This is my dating post on Mastodon, which is shorter than the one on Dreamwidth. It's somewhat similar to this one, but it contains an explanation of what I am seeking in a partner. If you are or know a genuine dandy, or at least, an intelligent, single, childfree man over sixty, please read the link below and/or pass it on to him.

  16. Just received a mailing from #AARP that our #UnitedHealthcare #Medigap monthly premium is rising 18% next month! This is a mid-year increase that we cannot opt out of.

I guess #UnitedHealth isn't making enough money these days.
