Officials attributed the worsening electricity crisis to aging infrastructure and severe fuel shortages, which Cuban authelorities say have been intensified by a U.S. fuel blockade imposed earlier this year. The repeated outages have compounded shortages of food, medicine, and drinking water, disrupting daily life and public services across the country. While the Cuban government blames U.S. sanctions for deepening the crisis, it has also introduced limited economic reforms as it struggles to stabilize the country’s deteriorating energy system.
