It is most definitely a #privilege to claim you are #apolitical when #humanrights, #human #safety, and human #life are on the table. It’s insensitive and outrageous to claim such. You can’t be apolitical towards #genocide and if you are then you simply don’t care.

The moment anyone calls themselves apolitical, you can disregard anything else that comes out of their mouths. What's that, oh 'apolitical' person? You don't care about the price of bread? Not upset about gas or pollution or how hot the days are? You don't mind tripping over potholes every day?

Be honest. Don't say you're apolitical. Say "I don't want to engage with this topic." Say "I'm fine with the status quo." Say "I'm happy with things the way they are, no matter how many people are suffering, and don't want others to harsh my vibe."

Say 'moo.'

#Centrism is not enabling fascism, we obviously don't just repeat "I don't care" at the face of every political question and let Nazis steamroll over us, it's just that we've heard this bullshit over and over again and would rather move onto something more than slinging mud at each other.

So apparently I've had enough of talking directly to #tech people regarding #political problems.

I've had enough of people pretending to be #apolitical as well, or misrepresenting my point of view, only to lose their shit when I do the same thing.

I don't understand why it's so hard to get the idea across that foreign actors with a company inside your country can still funnel the data out, that you can never follow up on regulating them and why data farms (politically) was a mistake.

It's an organization that accepts no money and feeds the poor people through, fit to eat leftover food and also other resources.

In the latest episode of The Urbanist Agenda, guest Ellory Smith argues, "infrastructure is apolitical…because…it benefits everybody."

Unfortunately, this is projection, and the most insidious form of both-sides-ing: the unknowing kind.

Ellory is assuming that no one could possibly be so brazenly evil as to disagree with this goal, but they do. They really, really do. :dragon_sad:

In reality, the fact that infrastructure helps everyone is precisely what makes it directly political, because helping everyone is a Left-wing value. It is diametrically opposed to the Right-wing value of leveraging one's advantages over other people into successively greater advantages.

And for those of you who are new to this: yes, this does in fact mean that the Left side of the political spectrum is the only side that is even remotely morally defensible. :drgn_knife_angry: If a supposed Right-winger seems to want to help everyone, then there are three possibilities. The most likely is that your definition of, "everyone," excludes the people they're screwing over. The second-most likely is that they're just lying. The last option is that their personal politics are incoherent, probably because they don't know what "Left" and "Right" actually mean.

"The personal is political" is true because politics is just a fancy word for "how people organize". What a family structure is, what friendship means, and how labor in the home is divided are all pieces of how we organize.
