Listening to the English audiobook of "A Man Called Ove" by Fredrik Backman narrated by J.K. Simmons. While I enjoyed Tom Hanks in the English film adaptation, Simmons would have made a truly FANTASTIC Ove / Otto. I don't normally do audiobooks (I have a book group that I really need to finish the book for) but this one has been nice.

Op voorhand wil ik aangeven dat ik het Zweedse origineel niet gezien heb. Dat beïnvloedt voor diverse recensenten en filmkijkers hun oordeel blijkbaar. Maar ik ga gewoon uit van wat ik gezien heb in A man called Otto. Wat een prachtige film: het is zo’n emotioneel verhaal met ook veel humor. En naast Tom Hanks is ook de rest van de cast erg goed. Maar Hanks laat met deze film wel weer zien dat hij een hele grote is en niet voor niets.

Och sen blev det lite close to home jag hade glömt bort det där med HCM för det var det min man hade men de kallade det förstorat hjärta i boken och jag hade väl ingen större koll då.

Just finished watching A Man Called Otto. Had to wipe away a tear at the end. Nice movie, Tom Hanks played the grumpy guy really well. I liked his new neighbours, the woman was a bunch of Mexican positivity. Her husband really was a nitwit though. 😁

CW: Suicide, grief
Just returned from the #cinema after watching #AManCalledOtto - there’s a central suicide theme that I hadn’t realised (15 rating in UK) and all 3 of us bawled our eyes out at a couple of points, but it’s a beautiful and life-affirming film, genuinely hilarious at many points too.
#TomHanks plays another blinder, no surprise there. I think I’d go and watch him read the phone book to be honest, he’s great (and also has a big heart)
