@7heo Cette méthode-là aurait un impact bien trop violent sur ma santé mentale, qui n’est pas toujours aussi solide que je le voudrais. 😆
Je note toutes les alternatives que toi et @geobomatic m’ont fait découvrir :
– #Superkop : https://www.superkop.com
– #Flair : https://flairespresso.com
– #9barista : https://9barista.comJe voulais juste réduire mes déchets, mais oui, c’est peut-être le moment de passer à autre chose.

So after almost 2 years I was finding my #9barista espresso maker was occasionally pulling short shots, not pulling a shot at all, or spitting water from the chimney.
I assumed I needed to descale so I did a deep descale twice to no avail.
Then I noticed some odd squeaking/hissing noises during the heating phase so I decided to try replacing the boiler o-ring. And voila! Problem solved!
So if you're having similar issues, try replacing that o-ring. #coffee #buyitforlife #repair

4o just suggested running oil or alcohol through a 9 bar water-cooled pressure cooker (aka the #9Barista) would be fun and creative experiments.
(It actually recommended a dozen ideas, all but one of them guaranteed injuries.)
In the sense of "redecorating my kitchen" or "how fast do emergency responders show up" or "how deep do brass shards embed themselves into my skull", sure: fun.
I assume it plays Dwarf Fortress.

Why #9barista hasn't targeted marketing to the #SteamPunk enthusiast community I'll never know. One year I hope to see them hawking their wares at the #yeg Comicon in full steam punk regalia... #coffee

For both of my trial runs with the #9Barista I got exactly 40ml of #espresso (18g beans, 120g water) and a thick crema.
The metal and machining feel nice, heavy, precise. But the plastic chimney and the wooden handles that loosen too easily feel a bit cheap by comparison.
Looking forward to trying this for cappuccino when I have time to spend on it.

Second run of my #9Barista #espresso maker. Essentially an over-engineered moka pot.
Good espresso. Bit of a hassle to assemble. Bigger hassle to disassemble — have to cool it, release pressure from valve, pop off upside-down portafilter top (#coffee splash warning and handles can spin), unscrew reservoir (without using plastic chimney as thumb leverage). Not ideal if you have RSI, etc.
Got induction plate (too hot for flame in summer). Did not get dosing funnel (too expensive; can print one).

Well, another win for the 9barista stovetop espresso maker: it couldn't be easier to descale! Did my first deep descaling today and the steps were basically: remove three screws and three gaskets, then fill the bottom with descaler solution while submerging the heat exchanger, and the valve spring and pin in a glass full of descaler. Wait 15 minutes, then rinse and reassemble. Done! #9barista #coffee #buyitforlife

Fascinating little piece about the #mokapot:
https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/make-coffee-moka-pot
As much as I love my #9barista, I've had and loved my Moka pot for years. Like the Aeropress it's a cheap way to make delicious #coffee at home that's a step up from the old drip machine (and miles past any pod machine on the market).
It's also a great #BuyItForLife purchase given the only part that can wear out is a single cheap rubber gasket.

You know, my original plan during my #sabbatical was to do a caffeine detox for the first little bit. But between this newfound free time and my #9barista, which is legitimately the best #coffee device I've ever owned, it seems the exact opposite is happening...
