My #7AlbumsToKnowMe post...

RE: https://blahaj.zone/notes/9fnqscc239

Okay, I've decided to do the #7AlbumsToKnowMe thing after seeing @[email protected] doing it. Here goes, in no particular order:

* Garbage "No Gods, No Masters"
* Steam Powered Giraffe "The 2 cent show"
* Shea Diamond "Seen it all"
* Angelin Tytöt "Dolla"
* Societe Absolument Guinen "Spirits of Life: Haitian Vodou"
* Psychic TV/PTV3 "Hell in Invisible, Heaven is Her/E"
* Jon Everist "Shadowrun Dragonfall: Original Soundtrack"

Okay so the Shea Diamond one is just an EP, but she hasn't done a full album yet and I really wanted to include her because her music is just that awesome...

@SleepyCatten if I had to pick #7AlbumsToKnowMe right now

Nightwish—Imaginaerum
Nine Inch Nails—Downward Spiral
Rise Against—Nowhere Generation
Amaranthe—Massive Addictive
Metalite—Biomechanicals
Within Temptation—Hydra

Tough choice! Far too many favourites - they could all be Metallica if I’m honest 😁

1. Hardwired…to Self-Destruct (#Metallica)
2. 5 Years of Mau5 (Deadmau5)
3. The Essential Jacksons (The Jacksons)
4. Vivaldi: The Four Seasons (#JoshuaBell)
5. Bon Jovi (#BonJovi)
6. Mutter (#Rammstein)
7. & Co (#DaðiFreyr)

This doesn’t even include any of the rock classics, Japanese or comedy stuff I love. I reckon I could easily add 70 bands or artists. Very hard list to whittle down! #music

Highway 61 Revisited, Bob Dylan
Medicine Songs, Buffy Ste Marie
Sugar In My Bowl, Nina Simone
The Road To Ruin, John & Beverley Martyn
Eduardo And Rodriguez Wage War On T Wrecks, Regurgitator
The Glory of Gershwin, Larry Adler
The Genuine Article, Howlin Wolf
—-
Bob, Buffy, and Nina all deserve a special mention for writing important songs;
The Martyns & Regurgitator each represent extreme mood swings;

Larry Adler’s 1994 album featured singers ranging from Elton John to Sinéad O’Connor - tbh it would be easier to list music styles i don’t like;

Howlin Wolf cos i luuuuuurve Blues, and i’m generally “cancelling” a lot of white artists (reasons …)
(but i’ll make an exception sometimes, I’m a big fan of Larkin Poe, and love this video of God Moves On The Water -
