¿Me creerán que recién hoy escuché el «72 Seasons» de Metallica? Y la verdad es que no me gustó.
Aclaro que no soy un gran fan de la banda ni del género. Lo encontré monótono y muy típico como cualquier otro disco del genero de finales de lo '80. Es muy probable que a los seguidores mas acérrimos les haya gustado mucho por la misma razón.
Creo que no me había perdido de nada. -

Metallica is odd.
Most of the post 2000 era stuff was the first couple of listenings meeh at max, but there's always one or two songs on each release that really grow on me…

Time for an updated #AOTY2023 list!
#JethroTull, #MandoDiao and #Drain entered the list.
#Leipa lost a point because turns out, I didn't listen to it again and I dont have the urge to.
#Metallica's #72Seasons gained a point because I liked it much better after the second run.

While the 11 minutes and 11 seconds long snoozefest Inamorata closes #72Seasons and thus my #Metallicajourney #Metaljourney, it is time for a(nother) verdict on the album and a final ranking of all #Metallica albums.
Surprisingly, 72 Seasons was better the second round, and I'll upgrade it to a 3 (solid album, might listen to it again). One of the reasons: "Too Far Gone?" caught my attention this time, it's a really nice heavy metal track.

Mein Papa hat zwei Platten statt einer kaufen müssen.“ Ann-Sophie findet, dass die Lieder so sind wie bei ihrer Alexa-Playlist „Kids“, nur dreimal so lang. „Ich kann dazu super einschlafen“, freut sich die gelernte Grundschülerin. Time for a verdict on ...And Justice For All while Dyers Eve brings the album to a close.
This album and I, we don't click.
To me, it is a record with at least some bangers, but overall not my cup of tea.
Now when I look at my rating system this is the definition of a 2/5.That's the same rating #72Seasons got and honestly, if I had to choose, I'd pick the latter one.
My ranking so far:
1. Master 4,5/5
2. Lightning 4,5/5
3. Kill 4/5
4. Justice 2/5 -
Sorry to say, but The Shortest Straw and Harvester of Sorrow really bored me and I almost lost motivation to continue this album.
I remember that I gave it a spin some years ago and barely made it through, for the exact same reason.
I don't get why ...And Justice For all gets so much praise.
And The Frayed Ends doesn't change that.

Disposable Heroes might be the most underrated song on #MasterOfPuppets, but it's a crucial piece on the album, as it picks up the tempo again after some slower numbers.
This is what I miss on #72Seasons BTW.

I think 72 Seasons is growing on me now that I'm officially three play-throughs in. Inamorata fuckin' slaps! I LOVE that guitar harmony/solo section SO SO MUCH!!

Speaking as a Metallica fan from the mid-80s, I regret that I have only two thumbs to give in the "up" position for the new album.
Strong riffs, very little filler, a nice snapshot of how the band has evolved while simultaneously nodding in the direction of their influences from long ago.
And James' voice hasn't sounded this strong since The Black Album. #72Seasons :dy26:
