🇺🇸 zpěvák, skladatel a herec *JOHN DENVER* (vlastním jménem *Henry John Deutschendorf Jr.*, nar. 31.12.1943) možná v našich zeměpisných délkách není příliš známý, za velkou louží však byl jedním z komerčně nejúspěšnějších a také nejoblíbenějších akustických umělců 70s.

Kariéru začínal v polovině 60s ve folkových skupinách. Sólově prorazil v r. 1969 autorskou skladbou *Leaving on a Jet Plane*.

John ve své tvorbě umně spojoval folk, country, pop a akustický rock. Nahrál a vydal kolem 300 písní, z nichž na 200 jich sám složil. V jeho diskografii je zaznamenáno 33 studiových a 10 živých alb, 26 kompilací a přes 40 singlů.

Johnovou velkou vášní bylo kromě hudby také létání. Přestože byl již od služby v armádě zkušeným pilotem, 12.10.1997 tragicky zahynul ve věku 53 let. Jeho soukromé experimentalní letadlo Rutan Long-EZ se zřítilo do Tichého oceánu u pobřeží Kalifornie kvůli konstrukční chybě přepínače palivových nádrží...

Tři dnešní hudební vzpomínky stojí za krátký komentář.

Píseň *Leaving on a Jet Plane* John napsal a nahrál v r. 1966 jako součást demo nahrávek a několik kopií rozdal jako vánoční dárky. Teprve v r. 1969 ji vydal na debutovém albu i jako singl. Píseň tedy není od tria Peter, Paul and Mary a už vůbec ne od Chantal Kreviazuk z r. 1998.

Jeden z nejslavnějších a nejhranějších country songů - *Take Me Home, Country Road* - napsali John Denver, Bill Danoff a Taffy Nivert a John ji 12.4.1971 vydal jako singl na labelu RCA Records. Od té doby se snad nenašel žádný country zpěvák, který by si cover verzi hitu nezazpíval.

*Annie's Song* je opět Johnova autorská píseň, která vyšla v červnu 1974. Zajímavostí je, že hned dvou cover verzí se dočkala ve Finsku (1976 anglicky, 2016 finsky). A Kája měl taky na chvíli co zpívat.

Yinhle Lentombi translates to “This Lady Is Beautiful” and comes from their 6th studio album Shintsha Sithothobala which was released in 1975.

Shintsha Sithothobala, released in 1975 unlike most of the output of the group by this time, does not include any directly Zulu Christian religious songs. The album’s songs instead are based on Zulu tradition.
